4 out of 6 NFC Playoff Teams Didn't Make It Last Season

2 rookie CB's, injuries all across the offensive line, and a GM who decided to be cheap at the worst possible time have all been a factor.

I do think DG will learn from this, and luck will be more on our side next year. I can see the Panthers going on another 3 year playoff run in '17, '18, and '19 with one of those years resulting in a championship.

the future is bright, '16 was an anomaly. we'll be a dominant force for years to come.

Historically speaking, there's usually a 50% turnover in playoff teams year to year. There's a handful of teams that are there year after year and the rest of the NFL is scratching and clawing to get their shot every now and then. While I thought we were ready to break into the former group, we're clearly still part of the latter.

it's ok. we fell off the cliff this year with injuries and a different defensive chemistry. it'll change. we're going to get back to where we were.

Better than we were.  For many reasons.  Most important Cam will be in year 7 and age 28, the beginning of the prime late 20's, early 30's for a QB.  He will be rested, and the mental chamber will be locked and loaded.

I remember after being 2-14 in one score games believing those one score losses were for the best long term since they netted Luke and Star.  I have zero doubt picking in the top 8 of all seven rounds WILL be for the best long term towards the only thing that matters at this point-winning multiple Lombardi's.  Zero doubt.

I hope so. Some of DGs words have me worried though. That plus Shula will be back. I'll have to wait and see.

That's great and all but we weren't the only team to miss the playoffs.

This year was on the injuries and coaching. Lack of evolving had nothing to do with it.

The coaching staff has to evolve dude. Doing the same thing year after year won't work.

There's turnover every year. Nothing new.

That is true, but I don't remember a year in which so many defending division champs didn't make the playoffs.  Only two div champs from last year are in this year.  New England, because they are New England, and the Texans because they are in the worst division in football again.  There is a lot more turnover than normal this year

When you look at it more closely, it makes sense.

We and the Vikings had plenty of various injuries, with the O-line being the common denominator. Denver won so many close games last season but the talent loss and rising Raiders proved too much for them. Redskins also had the Cowboys rising back but still had a chance to make it in. Unfortunately, Kirk Cousins showed why there's question marks of him being a long term starter. I find Arizona to be the most puzzling although the stats indicate Palmer wasn't as good and that he got sacked a lot more this season.

IMO, it just shows how small the difference between division champ and last place is.  We lost only a few players from 2015, and finished last.  The cowboys were one of the worst teams in the NFL last year, but add Elliot and Prescott, and one or two others and they have the best record in the NFC.

Gives us some hope for next year.

Only Packers and Seahawks are in the playoffs from last season

The Panthers need to learn the game is always evolving and teams are getting better

So? Are you saying that the other 3 teams that didn't make the playoffs are getting better? That we are the only team that is not getting better? Or, are we the only team that is not evolving? Cuz I know Rivera did talk about evolving. I do know that evolution is a tricky thing. And it takes like, years to work.

Or is it more likely, you heard someone say, "Hey, did you notice that only the Pack, and Hawks made the playoffs this year?"? Then thought, "Hey, another something to bash my favorite team with. I need to get to teh Huddlez."?

We had a, as in 1, bad year. The sky is not falling, I promise. We have, for the first time in the Gman era, money to spend, and we have great draft position. All those resources should allow us to evolve nicely into next year.

Or not.
