What Mike Wallace has done in 2 games/ Dewayne Jarrett

Players it's often wise to avoid in the draft...

- Michigan runningbacks

- Florida quarterbacks

- USC wide receivers

If we'd only have been smart enough to take Steve Smith (Giants).

But I hear those small guys can't play.

It's sad, even Patrick Turner 3rd rounder selected this year by the Dolphins has 7 catches already.

From what I hear, they were set to do it but the equipment manager and the stat guys nixed the idea.

(too confusing)

And come on. What have small receivers named Steve Smith ever really accomplished anyway? :sosp:

you guys really think regardless of who was drafted they would get any attention in our offense? with a healthy Steve and Moose on the field?

But Keary Colbert, Mike Williams and Jarrett are strong cases for your statement.

Maybe it's Carolina where wide receivers (Except Smitty) go to die, not Chicago.

Mike Thomas looked interesting today too. They didn't really showcase his receiving skills, but he moves and is built a lot like Smitty.

The jags also got my favorite reciever in the draft Jarrett Dillard. He was supposed to get significant playing time today but he didn't even get on the field. I still have faith in him as he had the best hands in the draft and has insane body control.

    • People comparing this deal to CMC, Williams, or Stewart is laughable, and I'll break the numbers down as to why: In 2020 We made CMC the highest paid RB ever. We gave him a $64 million over 4 years with $38 million guaranteed. That's $16 million on average. In 2011 we extended Williams, then in 2012 we extended Stewart. These extensions were 12 and 13 years ago: Williams - 5 years, $43 Million, $25 Million Guaranteed, Average of $8.6 Million per year Stewart - 5 years, $36 Million, $23 Million Guaranteed, Average of $7.3 Million per year Let me do the math for you: The Salary Cap in 2020 when we Signed CMC was $198.2 Million. CMC accounted for 8% of our total cap that season. The Salary Cap in 2012, when we had both Williams and Stewart under contract, was $120.6 Million. Those two combined to take up 13.1% of our total cap that season. Without the cap going up next season (and it will) Chuba is taking up 3.2% of our total cap. That's it. Not only are we paying Chuba HALF of what we were paying CMC per year, and LESS than what we paid Williams over a decade ago, shows how much less significant the contract extension is compared to those other moves. I really am not following how people are calling this contract a "big" money contract on a running back and a waste of cap space. This is a solid starting RB contract in the modern NFL.
    • Yeah Brown was shown to be a lot more important even in his second year
    • I remember some of those poor showings by Peppers but even in those times I don't feel like Brian Burns would be anywhere close to his level. Peppers was better than Burns in every way. I've never seen Burns even once show that he could take an entire game over and severely affect the outcome and for the money he wanted I sort of expect him to have that Peppers ability. I know our defense is weak now but I'm still glad he is gone and so happy we didn't pay him that monstrous contract he wanted.
