Seriously depressed Shula is gonna be our OC nxt yr

Me too. I'm expecting another sub par year and then finally getting new coaches next year, but then again we're wasting another year of Newton's talents. It could get real ugly. This team isn't dedicated to winning. They're dedicated to loyalty until  it is way past time to move on. One of the recipes for mediocrity for 20 plus years of a franchise.

Don't think it's that bad. Injuries made it hard to judge anything this year.

Sign an OLineman in FA, draft another one high, use a 3rd rounder on a solid RB, pick up a real FB late in the draft or FA, got everything you need to make a really good offense. That's one big FA and 2 draft picks, one mid rounder. Good FBs are easy to find, nobody uses them anymore.

The RB & FB give you the balance you didn't have this year, and take the pressure off of Cam to run. Read option should only be used in 3rd and short and goal line situation, should only have enough planned QB runs to force the opposing defense to keep  practicing against them.

Then, Benjamin needs to come in in really good shape and have spent the off season running routes. All the WRs should have a Rice-like routine of a 1000 catches a day with the juggs machine.

Cam needs to work on footwork and throwing a touch pass over the offseason, neither are strengths of his and would take his game up a notch.

A solid run game combined with a deep passing game and the threat of Cam running should make for a pretty potent offense. If Cam and his Wrs/TEs develop a better short game to go along with the running game and deep passing game, it's a killer offense.

We need a new WR . . Ginn and Benji not going to do it. Maybe Byrd but still need to draft another receiver. CUT Bersin and Philly or increase his role the inbetween is not getting it..We can not judge how  productive he is with few targets if he isn't worthy of snaps why have him on team. time for the project to end.

You claimed that we would never win a Championship with Shula at the helm. And that we would need a great D to do so. I showed you an example of where we darn near did win one with Shula.

So you come back with. Peyton played bad, and our D played great. Discounting how our Offense was 2 plays away from maybe winning that game.

I bet you would be hard pressed to find anyone who is ok with average around here. Everyone wants to win. Just because folks don't agree with your opinion, does not automatically mean they are happy with mediocrity.

We are all frustrated. Not one of us foresaw the mess this season became. And this board is bursting at the seams with that frustration. Unmet expectations are a bit(h.

Shula has his flaws, but Cam has the option to audible. Shula, and Cam work on the game-plan together. They designed this Offense around what Cam most likes to do. It really is tough to just blame Shula for our Offensive woes, when Cam is so involved.

Outside of melding Shula with Chud, it is unlikely we will change much with the Offensive Coaching Staff. And this is one of the main gripes around here. Most folks want Shula gone. Good, or bad, he probably won't be going anywhere.

Cam could not audible due to line. But Shula should have worked on Blitzes because every team pretty much did it...The plays we normally  run the team should be more than capable to execute..The new stuff is what needs practicing but guess what we had nothing new...Makes you wonder what type of game planning are you doing..Without Cam audibliing last year the offense would have been poo..You see that now...Shula sucks if you have to audible at least 95% of your snaps that tells how much your coordinator knows..the success of the audibles are an indication of how much your qb knows..

Who here, or anywhere expected 2015? 2016 was one of the few years as a Panther fan I was truly disappointed. I'm usually even keel. I will never let that happen again. What happens will happen. And I'm sure I'll be happy/sad,mad about it.

I try to look at the positive.Rivera and Shula are tied at the hip, both know if they start 1-5 they will be gone in December. They have the opportunity to study some of the better offenses in the NFL this postseason and see what they do well. Hopefully they understand that they can't return the same personnel on offense for a third year in a row and run the same scheme.

When provided a decent offensive line, our whole offense has done well. Go ahead and write off last years number 1 offense and Super Bowl team as we got lucky or won in spite of Shula if you want to take that approach. If thats the case how did we win in spite of him in 13 and 15 but not in 14 and 16? Hmm maybe its the personnel??

Gettleman's first years was Shula's first as OC. 2 of those years we did well. 12-4 and 15-1. The other 2 we did not do well, winning 6 and 7 games. The 2 down years we arguably had some of the worst offensive line play in the NFL. Not to mention we literally had an entire new receiving core in 14.

In 2013 we went 12-4 and nobody cried about him

In 2014 we fall back to 7-8-1 and everybody wants to blame Shula. But lets take a look at the offensive roster turnover from 13 to 14.

LT- goes from Jordan Gross to Byron Bell

LG- goes from Wharton to Norwell in his first year as an undrafted rookie

C- Same

RG- Turner takes over for Nate Chandler/ and a handful of other benchwarmers

RT- goes from Byron Bell to Nate Chandler

WR- Goes from Steve Smith, Lafell and Ginn to Benjamin as rookie, Cotchery, and Philly brown as a rookie.

In 2015

LT goes from Byron Bell to Oher

LG Norwell in his 2nd year

C- Same

RG Turner in his 2nd year

RT - Remmers

WR- Ginn is back after leaving for a year. Cotchery comes back,Funchess is drafted and Philly enters his 2nd year

In 2016

O-line goes to poo again. Oher hurt in week 3, Kalil goes down, Remmers moves to LT, and so on.

As it stands right now it is true. Had we won the SB last year it wouldnt be true.

Well if that were true...then no one who hasn't won a Super Bowl would ever win a Super Bowl.   Because if good enough implies you have to have won then no one could get one.

People can moan about Shula all they want.  Worse coordinators have won Super Bowls. Talent matters more.

and I am not opposed to upgrading at OC. I really am not.  BUT if Ron wants a ball control OC and play defense then sticking with Shula just seems logical.  Shula actually actually makes defending boring football real work for opponents at least

No poo. Defense wins championships.

Get with the program.

Yep. How many rings Brady got without good defense? Peyton? Big Ben?

Hell Brady brought one of the greatest offenses of all time to a Super Bowl....didn't land him a ring against an okay overall opponent

yeah I don't see how we can win a super bowl with him calling the plays, but I will support him and root for the best and hope that I am wrong.

Shula got exposed in the SB and week 1 and all other teams followed the blue print. Shula has been figured out and you can't win any championships when your opponents already know what you're going to do and will make no adjustments.

sorry bro, but our defense played well enough to win a super bowl. it's up to the OC to have his team prepared and to know their opponent. knowing that you need an extra TE or RB to help a weak RT like Remmers when going up against an All-Pro LB like Miller. our defense didn't cause this...

That's too played out.   The players sucked far worse than the play caller in the SB, far worse.

camfumble-0.gif?w=1000

Our defense did play well enough to win and the offense did lose it for us. Turnovers and sack fumbles for TDs do that.

I am sure Shula called for Cam to fumble twice and let the defense recover it. I am sure he told Cam to ignore it when Miller blitzes and not get it out fast.

I love how poor execution on our part or even better execution on the opponents part is always Shula's fault. Laughable really.
