Yaz: Must win for Panthers

If we lose some more games.I would like the to see Fox go.to see what Jeff Davidson can do as a HC

I would like to see this as well (if we lose many more games).. I would like to see what Davidson could do (even though it wouldn't be a real fair assessment half-way through the season), and be able to make a different move at the end of the season if there wasn't any kind of noticeable change.

I'd hate to see us commit to the guy if it didn't pan out, when there are a lot of up and coming coaches we could take a shot at...

--------------------

and side note.. I know Pep has knocks against him, but statements like this get under my skin.. (the caption under his picture in that article)

Julius Peppers has been very quiet so far this season.

He was stellar in game 1.. in 2 games, he hasn't been quiet so far this season.. He was quiet in 1 game this season.

Not to say he won't have more games like that.. but if you're "calling it as you see it", then I question what the hell you are seeing.

I have a hard time believing Richardson would make a mid-season coaching move. Those sorts of things pretty much always end in disaster.

Firing him for a losing season though? That I could see.

I actually wouldn't mind dealing with Fox for a season as long as I would be confident he is gone after this season. If Fox is fired midseason then Davidson would be our interm coach most likely. I am afraid he will suceed just enough to get the job permanently, much like Tom Cable did. I like Davidson as an O Coordinator but I really don't want him as a HC. I really want one of these good young D-coordinators like Butler (LBS Coach Steelers) someone that will bring in a good scheme that will bring fire to our very talented roster.

More, really, really bad work from Patsy.

First, this statement is crazy.

"In general, they don’t make dramatic personnel moves."

Take a look at the last two drafts and all the wheeling and dealing.

Secondly, the statement that JR doesn't like the losing seasons after the winning seasons, well...DUH...but JR says nothing so what's the source? A proper journalist would cite a source.

It's amazing that ESPN lets this incompetent doofus work for them.

Gantt discussed the possible successors a while back. He said Richardson prefers defensive coaches. makes sense when you look at it, seeing as that's all we've ever had.

That's not to say he'd elevate Meeks over Davidson in a mid-season scenario mind you. Just that I have a hard time seeing Davidson being the next long term head coach (regardless of how Fox's tenure ends).

I think that was more on Fox and Hurney trying to save there a**es. They did again after a huge blowout loss in the playoffs for the same reasons.

Think JR might be feeling his mortality after his recent health problems and may try something rash and even desparate to light a fire under this team, all in a hope of making the SB again before he checks out? I don't like speaking in those terms, nor do I wish any ill aspects in any of this, but might that be in the cards? I speak from experience here, I had major surgery last year for a life threatening condition, and believe me, it can change your perspective and approach to things. Things that were 'better left for tomorrow' take on a whole new urgency. I'm wondering if that isn't contributing here?

I was watching all the Sunday Ticket Gameday shows, and on one of them one of the guys said something about John Fox wanting an extension, but the front office wanted to see what he could do this year. Probably just speculation or rumor, but I found it interesting. I think it was for the Chiefs-Eagles game coverage, but I can't recall.
