good measurements.  G-Man does like his tall corners.  Would imagine insurance and competition for training camp for Bradberry and Worley sense hes practically an outside corner based on measurements.

It's not Dave that likes the tall corners, it's Ron Ron and his minions.

Former Redblacks' Jeff Richards determined to make NFL dream come true

As a kid, Jeff Richards was a big NFL fan — he’d sit on the couch with his dad Jeff Richards Sr. and watch the Dallas Cowboys play.

As much as he loved football, he didn’t play a lot. He’d try out for teams, then get cut — told he was too small. So it was hard for him to imagine one day he’d get an opportunity to play in the NFL.

“I wanted to be a running back,” Richards said. “Emmitt Smith was my favourite player. As it turned out, I didn’t have a running back body.”

Little Jeff sprouted up six inches from his 5-foot-6 frame heading into his senior year of high school. He played football and they found out he was good, real good. And that set the wheels in motion.

The defensive back is now 6-foot-2, he’s going to have a ring from the Ottawa Redblacks’ amazing 39-33 Grey Cup win over the Calgary Stampeders … and he’s got an NFL futures deal in hand, from the Carolina Panthers, a contract that was signed on Richards’ 26th birthday on Tuesday. It’s expected that two of Richards’ Redblacks defensive backfield mates — Forrest Hightower (New Orleans Saints) and Mitchell White will also get a shot to play in the NFL. Along with Richards, a backup with Ottawa for much of the 2016 season, they got their release from the Redblacks earlier this week to pursue NFL opportunities.

Former Northeastern Oklahoma A&M defensive back Jeff Richards vows he will be on the 53-man roster of the NFL Carolina Panthers on opening day 2017.

"I plan on it. I plan on it," Richards said in a phone interview Thursday afternoon. "I am going to call it out right now: I will be on that 53-man roster."
