Antwan Odom only had 2 tackles. He's trash...

I never understand the "Other people suck therefore it is okay for our players to suck" threads. I don't care if the guy makes league minimum or a million per game, I want to see all out effort on every play. Last night I didn't see Dwight Freeny have any other speed than wide open. Sometimes he got blocked but I never questioned his effort. When his time comes to get paid - then pay the man because he earned it. Until JP is willing to work hard enough to have people stop questioning his effort - he will always draw criticism.

Is it fair to single JP out because there are a lot of players that could be criticized for their effort? Personally, I don't care if it is fair or not - if you take up 30% of my teams salary cap space.....your effort should not EVER be questioned. Unfortunately, with JP.....it is questioned way to often.

Um, if you're trying to defend Pep, you might want to use another example. Odom has 7 sacks through three games and is making $3.4 million this season.

damn, KK got owned, as always. His arguments are always full of fail. He always wants to poo on somebody or something, but never bothers to come up with anything logical to back it up.

again, compare the rest of the DL in Indy minus Freeney to the DL in Carolina minus Peppers. Did you watch the game? Plenty of pressure was generated by guys NOT named Freeney.....that makes a huge difference.

you will eat your words if he has a good game tonight? what about the next week? are you gonna jump back off and flip flop every week?

I won't. He's a good player. He should have some good games. The point is that he's not such a critical part of our team to demand the salary cap allocation he's getting paid. That's a GM/ Coach problem. Because we root for the team, it's our problem too.

Part of the reason we're not getting pressure from "guys not named Peppers" is because of how much we're paying Peppers. Expectation shift to him. Simple as that. Peyton is expected to perform regardless of who his receivers are, Asomugha is expected to shut out God without safety help, etc. That's the way it is. Peppers is not being unfairly criticized for his relative lack of performance. They all feel the heat.

And as usual no one cares what you have to say. All you do is come in threads and stir up sh*t. If you read my posts in here, you'll see the point I was making. People wanna get upset over how much Pep is making, they just need to get over it. It's not up to them to decide how much a player should get. If they wanna be upset over the contract, they should direct their anger towards Hurney.

Fact of the matter is that Pep has the 3rd most combined sacks and tackles of the past 4 years amongst every other DE in the league. He came out last year and had his 3rd highest tackle total and highest number of sacks of his career, despite being used incorrectly, yet people stil want to bitch about him.

I watched him last year and other than sacks and tackles, I saw him apply QB pressures, disrupt the backfield, change directions of run plays, etc. Ive seen the samething this year. The first game he was awesome in. 5 tackles, forced fumble, sack, blocked field goal. Along with applying QB pressure. He didn't post great stats for the second game, but I still saw him applying pressure, getting in the backfield. There was one play in particular where he saw that the QB was about to throw, he jumped up to block his vision and it resulted in a incompletion. I see all this in him and do not understand why others do not too. The only conclusion I can come up with is that they can't get over his contract. Get over it!

Ray Lewis has average days sometimes too, but their fan base isn't bitching about him on those days and complaining about how much money he makes. They still understand that he's important to the defense and is a leader on the field.

Uh, did YOU watch the game? Freeney absolutely manhandled Gandy on just about every play.

No, more like, I don't believe that he is worth the money we are paying him and that he isn't a top tier DE that has to be accounted for on every down. Thanks for not reading my post, nice one bro.

My only point really is... How does his salary cap and blind hate totally eliminate the fact that Pep had a good game?

Just sheep, roaming aimlessly..

I'm not saying Pep won't go missing ever again. I'm pretty sure it'll happen. How can anyone sit there and say something never happened, when the whole world who watched, saw it happen?

Amazing....

My pet peeve is with this logic.. Not necessarily Pep. I wish Pep dominated every game, hell, I'll be happy to deal him somewhere or let him walk, IF WE bring in an all-pro DT.. That would help us more than anything.

But in most threads, this is the logic being used.. And I'm going to point it out... Let me go ahead and apologize now. :)

Freeney has always been a better pass rusher than Peppers. Peppers has always been a better DE than Freeney.

Peppers isn't trash, but he sure isn't a top tier DE. When has Peppers ever stepped up in a big regular season game, or a playoff game? Where was he last year against Mike Gandy in the playoffs? Oh, and Dwight Freeney completely dominated Gandy last night if anyone noticed. Peppers two biggest games last year were against Oakland and Detroit. I expect more of the same from Peppers tonight in Dallas, I'll eat my words if he explodes, but knowing Peppers, he won't show up tonight in a big game setting.

I have seen Pep absoultly dominate many games but it seems to be happening less and less frequently. I use to remeber whenever the announcers used to give the keys to the game every pregame show it seemed they always said the other team had to stop Peppers.

Now that's something most Oline coaches have seemed to be able to do. This is due to the fact that there is really no one on this Dline they have to gameplan for like Pep. Pep is simply not good enough to succeed up to his contract with this Dline. That's why we should have cut ties with him in the off-season.

    • yeah. winter backpacking trips were the most miserable and amazing experiences. same with the coldest and snowiest hunting  experiences. i love being in it. makes for incredible memories. the worse it was, the more i ended up loving it. made the greatest memories.  i just want to get out of it afterwards.
    • I forgot about Jackson...definitely elite.  The sad part of your list is that 2 of them were 'there for the taking for the Panthers'.  Rumor has it that Hurney loved Herbert and was vetoed on trying to trade up.  And rumor has it that Frank & McCown wanted Stroud.  I believe both rumors.
    • I went on a solo elk hunt in the Flat Tops. It was awesomely miserable. LOL It was a late season hunt, I think third season and it was forecasted to snap off cold with highs in the upper thirties and lows in the single digits. fug it, I'm going anyway. They were wrong. The highs were in the low 20s and the lows were in the negative teens. I shivered so hard the first night I thought my teeth were going to break. It was the only time I've ever been legit concerned that I might be in trouble. Crawled out of my sleeping bag and got a fire started and suffered through the night bundled up next to the fire. I slept the next two nights literally wearing every stitch of clothing I'd brought with Nalgenes full of near boiling water in the bottom of my sleeping bag. That was the only way to have non-frozen water in the morning anyway. There was about a foot of snow on the ground and the melt/freeze crust was almost enough to support your weight but you'd go crashing through just as you went or make your step. It was exhausting travel and every step sounded like a rifle shot. Hunting was basically impossible. I never saw an elk in those four days, only saw 5-6 deer. LOL It was brutal but I loved it. Absolutely beautiful country that is never been to before and haven't been back since. I needed that four day complete break from society fighting for my life against the elements. I'm weird like that.
