He really couldn't say much. No one knows if Oher will be back at 100%. He had a serious concussion for crying out loud that lasted for months.

The question is really the health of Oher. No one knows the answer really.

joe person was also trying to insinuate that the panthers were violating the league's concussion protocol earlier this year too so if he's being tight-lipped about it i can't blame him

Look at the DG squad try to rationalize an obvious tweet that Oher likely got a call on and had to take down.

Now, who would call Oher and ask him to remove that comment? Maybe his employer?

Do you honestly think Steve Smith would call Oher and ask him to remove the comment and Oher gladly removed it if it was a slight at Smith to begin with?

I told you that players in the locker room do not give any value to the words that come out of Gettleman's mouth. The business comments by players are the same as the loyalty comment from Oher. The difference is they can use the 'business' line since it comes straight from Gettleman. A tweet directly taking a shot at Gettleman's views on loyalty will be reprimanded and ordered to be removed since they are still employed by the organization in question.

Keep pretending like this issue does not exist.

Honestly, Steve did cut himself with his actions and words.  He got complacent just like D. Will and thought he was untouchable to the point that he refused to take a paycut.  He made the decision easy.

Steve got cut for one simple reason. They wanted to put the offense in Cam Newton's hands. With Steve Smith around there could be no other leader.

Smith and Jake Delhomme we're able to work well together because they grew together and Jake could be the fiery emotional leader alongside Smith. Cam's personality and Steve's tenure just was not going to work from a leadership perspective.

@CPantherKing claims he has inside sources too.

He knows what's going on. He knows what players are thinking during plays (typically something negative towards Gettleman's 'incompetent' players) and knows what's going on, despite countless times of being proved otherwise.

So obviously he knows the motive behind Oher's tweet.

I disagree. Smitty NEVER got complacent. He got older and his last year here he got hurt and he was getting ready to hang things up soon.

Then he got cut and it pissed him off so the league got vintage pissed at the world chip on his shoulder mid 2000's Smith for 2 and a half years of piss and vinegar.

Also Smith says there was never talks about taking a paycut. He was just cut. From what I gathered it was so guys like Cam and Luke could take control of the locker room because you have to believe there would have been no dabbing on Smitty's watch.

I hold no ill will towards Smitty nor do I fault Gettleman for letting him go, just the way in which it went down.

His actions were that he refused to take a back seat to Cam and allow him to take over the team.

His release had nothing to do with a pay cut

He publicly stated on the radio that he wasn't going to take a paycut prior to his release.  His contract verses production warranted a paycut.

His actions and words got his ass cut.  Bottoming 89.

Smith has said a lot of things since then that just don't add up but it's neither here nor there.  I loved the guy when he was here but now I'm over him.  I don't care whether he retires a Panther or not and I sure wouldn't kiss his ass to make it happen.   If JR does then more power to him.

I don't even know that he was approached about a pay cut (seems like I've read things to the contrary) , but even if he was, he was approached on the premise that he was "done" playing at a high level. That's where many, including Gettleman were wrong. I don't like the comparison to D-Will. D-Will arguably got complacent in the sense that he was sloughing. 89 always gave his best.

In any event, it's a stretch to say he cut himself. I guess all players "cut themselves."

DG: Smitty do you mind if we work you in the slot but you are still a huge deep threat?

SS: Yeah cool

DG: Also we need you to help develop Cam into the leader of this team. Can you do that? If there are any pride issues we can work around it. You still get paid.

SS: AIGHT COOL FAM.

( or however black people talk)

Could that have happened?

Yep. I think ultimately that was the nail in Smitty's coffin. (As far as remaining a Panther) It seems like it's a deal breaker with DG when players start making their case with the media in regard to contracts, à la Norman.

89 was always going to go out on his terms and nobody was going to change that.  He didn't get that desire he had to prove Dave wrong until he cut him, while here he was content to ride out the last 3 years of that fat contact and thumb his nose at Cam and anyone else who dared question his authority.
