Spotrac predicts KK contract

Recommended Posts

I don't see 18 million at all given that the tag is only 14. Who would sign him long-term for 4 million a year over the tag when  most times you sign long term for less than the tag for your own players. That 18 must be what he might get on the free market if we didn't tag him which we will. Last year the tag killed our cash while this year it won't be an issue.

Not a downward spiral in since 2011/2012. They are in a downward spiral as of the 2016 off season. The end of 2012 and 2013 was the emergence of a strong core of players from the 2011/2012 rebuild.

The front office took some fierce swipes at a promising future in 2014, but enough of the core remained to battle through the pain from the front office and begin to peak in 2015. I do believe the Panthers could have been stronger in 2014 and 2015 then they were.

That core of developing players from 2011/2012 were cut too thin come 2016 with the losses of Steve Smith, Jordan Gross, Greg Hardy, DeAngelo Williams, Josh Norman, Jeremy Shockey/Gary Barnidge, injury to CJ, Captain Munnerlyn, Dwan Edwards, and Jon Beason.

KB, Oher, Ealy, CAP, Bradberry, Dickson, a slower CJ due to the injury, Worley, Butler, and Shaq have yet to come close to the impact their predecessors brought in a game. The voids at those positions are still empty and waiting to be filled.

In 2016, the Panthers line of regression finally passed over their playmaking/production level. They need an immediate infusion of play makers or this downward trend will only continue.

Jon Beason - never the same player after the injury and replaced by luke
Greg Hardy - DG didnt throw that girl
Dwill - Hurney wrote that contract
Jordan Gross - Retired
Dwan Edwards - Really?
Captian Munnerlyn - do you remember this guy. He was "ok" and wanted a payday we couldnt afford at the time (see Dwill)
CJ - still on this team and took a paycut.. unless you are saying he shoulda been cut... in which case, ill give that to you
Barnidge - this is on coaching. He was nothing here but a blocking TE and blew up when he left... nobody saw that.

Shocky- Agreed
Steve Smith - that is a long debate so Ill just agree for the sake of the debate.

Im not saying DG is perfect... matter of fact, I wrote a long opinion why his average-at-best drafting made him only a B/B+ GM... but we have over 50M and are a year removed from a superbowl.

We are not on a "downward spiral"

Jordan likely would have played another year hadn't Getty pissed him off. That being said, I think Gettleman missed out on an acceptable replacement in Jared Veldheer. He would have gotten some of that Hardy money that was basically pissed in the wind.

Dwan Edwards was a good rotational guy. Underappreciated! Just saying. But you're right, no real need to talk about a vet that's aging out of the league. Lightning didn't strike twice in Soliai though. Waste of a roster spot.
