Spotrac predicts KK contract

Recommended Posts

When did DTs start getting good QB money?!?!?! It's insane when DOUBLE tag is a bargain.

Thanks to all you dumb gms signing these deal to highly questionable DTs such as Marcel "want to get high?" Darius, "I'll continue to stomp faces" suh, and malik "stole money in the first year and will continue" Jackson.

His tactics?  What tactics?  The one where Norman's agent fuged up so bad  that he got fired for pissing off Dave?  And Norman went begging back to Dave to reconsider after he jerked him around for months refusing to sign because he was GOAT and will be paid accordingly?   Those tactics?  How dare he!

You guys need to get over that because neither you nor I know exactly what went down other than an agent fuged up for his client and got fired.  Josh got his money.

Tbh, you sound more emotional about this than anyone. It's under the bridge for me.

Look, Josh, and his agent played a stupid part in what happened. We know that. But moving forward, we have to be able to to put ego aside as well. If you think Dave's ego played no part in how all that went down, you are dreaming.

No I'm just sick of you Josh fanboys regurgitating the same bullshit every chance you get.  It's gotten to the point that it's making this place unbearable.

I'm a Josh fanboy?

Check your facts chief. Perhaps you are confusing me with someone else.

I've said numerous times I was okay with the decision, and directed plenty of blame toward Josh, and his camp. I've also said he needs to let the whole thing go, it's laughable for him to have such a chip on his shoulder about it considering he is set for life financially if he is wise with his spending.

All that said, Gettleman has quite the ego himself, and he without a doubt was more than willing to up the ante with Josh in tha department when it came down to it. I think, and hope he learned something from the entire ordeal.

Then I stand corrected, it's hard to tell these days because you use the same tag lines to discribe Dave as Josh's nut huggers.

You say he has an ego, I see confidence.  The ego was all Josh and his rep.   I want a GM that won't tuck tail and fold when these slimy agents want to play hardball.  If the want to talk poo let's talk poo.

or maybe Gettlemen just simply did something unprecedented and the first time GM made a mistake when confronted with one of his many GM "first"

Most of Hurney's blunders were defended tooth and nail here too when they happened...

And what do you think forced him to do that?

Dude, you can claim it's ego till you're blue in the face but I'm not buying it.

Nothing forced him.

Norman not signing the tag is standard behavior in today's NFL.

Granted, it's a spotrac "prediction" of KK's contract, not a guarantee that he asks for that.  However, if that's what his value is on the open market, I'm ok with saying buh-bye.

I love KK and think he's more important than Norman was coming into this season.

KK will be 28 next month and, much like Norman, I don't feel comfortable committing that much yearly cap to 1 guy who will spend just as much time in his 30s as his 20s on this team.  $18MM/yr is more than Suh and Cox's annual avg.  I know Cox got over $60MM up front over the first 2 years in guaranteed dough, but he was also 25 years old when he signed the deal, not 28.

I want KK back up to say, maybe $14-15MM/yr avg.  I'd tag him this year and groom Butler.  I know a lot of folks will cry that DG is cheap....blah blah... what about the JNo money....should've signed KK with it....blah blah....what's the point of drafting if you just let them walk...blah blah.

Sorry, I'd have a hard time paying anyone not named Cam or Luke that kind of money. If KK matched his '15 season numbers and was the second coming of John Randle or Warren Sapp, then maybe....maybe that $16-17MM might be worth it, at the cost of Star... and then you roll KK/Butler, but then you have personnel issues since they are both better suited as 3-techniques.  No way KK is worth $18MM, IMO. I can't see DG going above $14MM TBH. Looks like FT until he's 30 and then we move on with Star/Butler and draft someone in the latter rounds to rotate in.

Luke will never sniff top DL money. At the end of the day, he is just an inside linebacker.

I would stop arguing with these people. Nobody has given me a good reason for why we didn't let Norman play out the tag. The growing pains this secondary went through at the beginning of the season could have been smoother with him back there.

Of course you want confidence. But sometimes diplomacy is needed. Even in the face of hostility. No you don't have to bow down, or "tuck tail", but how these things go down regardless of who shares more or less blame, the league sees it, and agents of other players down the road will exploit it if possible.

Dave isn't going to talk about it, because it serves no purpose for our franchise to rehash the whole ordeal, that's the smart move. But I believe he realizes it was a learning process overall moving forward. At least I hope.

That had nothing to do with it.  He pulled it because whatever Josh and his camp were doing told him that it wasn't worth waiting on him to come around.

You keep using the term standard behavior but nothing that went down was standard.  He was given the chance to play under the tag for one year and that was it.  He wanted much more and was told that ain't happening here.  After that poo went to hell and a Dave picked his money and walked away.  End of story.  He decided to play the whole thing out in the media and you know this organization will not stand for that.  Dave did the right thing.  Nothing about that screams ego on his part.  It does show desperation to save face on Josh's though.
