Spotrac predicts KK contract

At his age, I just can't see him sitting out a year and passing up a year of $13-14M guatanteed.

Doesn't mean he won't threaten to do so, just don't see him carrying through with the threat.

If he threatens to you can't take that chance.  You got to strike in FA and get another DT to fill in until the rookie is ready.  Or he could just draft a DT which would send this place into a tail spin.

you burning through your data with gif after gif because you've never been able to formulate an intelligent counter to your fragile and pregnable psyche regarding Dave gettleman is honestly one of the greatest joys I have on this board.

"but we've got all those meme sayings like gettlemagic :((((((("

Let's all keep in mind that Dave publicly said he rescinded the tag on Norman for the primary purpose of resigning KK which is like breaking the cardinal rule of negotiating.

We have no leverage.

I feel that by not signing him to an extension before the start of last season, G-Man got some of that power back.  Drafting Butler also helped.

Why would Short care about Vernon Butler? Butler may provide some small measure of insurance but he provides no leverage. Kawann Short doesn't care who is on the team and he doesn't care about what position he leaves us in. He cares about money.

And that is why KK will walk.  Anyone that pays KK QB money would be a fool.  He's not unique and is replaceable.  If he was a QB then we can talk.  You got to take emotions out of this.  Your fear is blinding you to reality.

The idea you had stated previously; Gettleman lost his negotiation advantage by stating that the "Norman money" was to aid in re-signing KK, is true.  However, having a surplus of talent at a position obviously helps Gettleman in negotiations. He doesn't "need" KK.

I'm not sure what kind of existential commentary about sentiment you're trying to make here but I don't care either.

Pay him or tag him. We cannot afford to keep losing out on our top talent. All that don't get emotionally attached mess is just that, mess. Nobody's emotionally attached, but we saw what happened last year. If we let Short go, and put our eggs in the development of Butler and a rookie, we're going to see the same slow start as last year.

Vernon Butler's presence in no way helps us retain Kawann Short. We may have another option should the worst occur but frankly that modus operandi has yet to yield any positive dividends for us, which, now that I think about it, will only embolden KK's side at the table even more. What it ultimately comes down to though is that Short doesn't care how the defensive tackle position looks without him.

"I don't have to pay you that much, because i have Vernon butler"

"okay"

*signs with Atlanta*

*tensions boil over in locker room, team implodes, maybe literally"
