Derek Barnett officially declares for 2017 NFL draft

Derek Barnett is a very productive pass rusher. He passed Reggie White as the all-time Tennessee sack leader.

He has a very fast first step, shows good moves, and is a great guy in run support.

He's a guy I'm looking at too, and I think he'd work real well for us.

VERY interesting observation when at 20 years old he's listed within an inch and/or 10 or so pounds give OR take from every single Pro Bowl DE this season!!

Are we allergic to a Pro Bowl sized DE or do Horton and Delaire tickle the fancy of Panther nation more than a 20 year old Barnett on a 5 year rookie deal?

He's 6'3" 260 ish last I saw. Regardless as i said what will count for for him from a measurables standpoint will be wingspan.

A lottt of top talent declaring. IF we can get a mini-run on QBs at the top, to add into the usual wonky draft selection by some team...good chance one of the consensus Top 3 or 4 players drops to us at 8.

The guy was very productive in college, and looks like he has a lil von miller in him as a pass rusher. He hasn't reached his full potential yet and this would be the perfect place to do that with our position coaches.
