Why we won't draft Offense in 1st Round

that guy has hitched his wagon to complaining about the offense this offseason... it is insanity to reach at pick #8. If Adams or Barnette is there, Gettleman needs to grab one. Plenty of other picks to address the offense

How about a draft like this?

1. Adams or Barnett

2. O.J. Howard

3. Dede Westbrook

Think the offense-complainers would complain about that?

Probably.

That Stat about sacks is a red herring. Our pass rush was NOT good this season.  Quarterbacks had ample time to pick us apart

exactly. Especially in the earlier games of the season QBs would consistently have time to bake cookies and then throw a perfect lob 50 yards down the middle of the field on 3rd and 20

I don't care what side of the ball it is, as long as its a lineman.

We need to stockpile on as many lineman as possible with on RB pick because the draft is so talented at RB.

I'm not trying to be a jerk off, but I don't get the love this board has for obsessing over skill guys. Have you learned nothing from the Cowboys recent success, or the Patriots and their average joe blow skill guys tearing it up. The game is won up front. Cam has no protection in a heavy drop back and scan passing game and we only had so many sacks because of blitz packages exposing us if they don't work.

As far as offense vs defense, see our Super Bowl appearance. See the Seahawks/Broncos. Defense beats offense.

What you are talking about (and I assume you are referring to OL) is stockpiling GOOD linemen.

You don't just reach every round and overdraft OL at your position for the sake of "stockpiling".  All that will do is give you a "stockpile" of average OL (which is kind of what we already have).

The Cowboys definitely did it right and "stockpiled" some really good linemen. But a lot of that was because, for many years, thats how the draft "fell" for them picking there in the great average middle of the 1st round.

If it was as easy as "just pick OL and stockpile and VOILA! SUCCESS!" then everybody would do it.

There are no top ten OTs in this draft. There are 2 top ten RBs that would do nothing to help protect cam.  This draft is heavy at DE and Safety which are huge areas of need for us.

But sure let's reach at #8 to make the fans happy.

Wait fournette and cook are reaches? And since when has adding a dominate runner not helped a qb? Especially fournette who would take some of the goaline mileage off cam. What happen to a qbs best friend is a strong running game?

if this draft is so deep at de and safety why not wait. There are 2 rare players in this draft. One is fournette. Can you get a Honda in round 2-3 sure. But why would pass up a guy being compared to BO Jackson and AP for some maybe guys later?

Offense is why we are picking where we are. Add play makers. Sick of this draft a backup defensive player crap for the future. Butler and Shaq hardly play. Both have flashed but we don't have snaps to get them on the field.

Im sorry in my opinion if you come to any other conclusion but Fournette If he is there you are wrong.

Fournette will be the pick, makes too much sense.

In war, you do what your enemies don't want you to do.  The enimies in this case, in particular Saints fans who have openly feared it all year and even a Falcons fan here on this site, are petrified we take Fournette.  The 'oh poo' can already be heard throughout the other 31 at the thought.

Barnett is still 1a but Fournette is holding hands at 1b in my book.

Where did I say that fournette was a reach? Reading comprehension, man... I said there are no top ten OTs

One, I'm talking bout OL and DL. Anyone who doesn't think DE is a priority insane. Two, it's called scouting....
