Except that none of the phrases you list above contradicts the others.

You realize that, right?

Okay... I'll keep it simple for those of you still trying to comprehend

I screwed up by getting rid of Norman, as evidenced by reaching for 3 CBs in the draft, all the while maintaining I was right.

But 2 of those guys turned out to be okay, so I have no worries... except there are more CBs available in the draft; so either I'm not as confident as I just stated, or... maybe I'll just add some more CBs to the roster, you know, just in case.

I don't know if you actually listened to what he said or how he said it, but he absolutely did not hold himself accountable. What he did was deflect the poo out of everything and when asked direct questions about his failures he responded with all "We's" instead of "I's"

play on words really.  Gettlemen is accountable for it.....doesn't mean he takes ownership in being part of the problem of 2016.  Two different things.

It is called being vague.  When you are vague people can attach meaning that suits them.  Gettlemen was all about being vague and not actually saying anything today.

Instead of taking the panthers PR guy as the bible, take a listen to the entire thing and see if you still feel the same

Are you dumb? I listened to the whole thing and he said he was accountable. He also said he needs to learn from this and improve as a GM. He also said everyone was responsible including him. This is rea dumb.

The problem was when asked directly about the majority of the problems this season that were 100% on him, he took exactly 0% of the accountability for it. Being vague leaves a lot open to interpretation - I get that, but I also know he didn't answer any of the big questions we all wanted answers to appropriately as a man who's in charge of filling this super bowl caliber team with the appropriate people to lead us back there.

Gettleman: "I'm accountable for this. I'm not happy. And I'm going to get this right."

But by all means, keep your narrative up.

To be fair, if you watch the whole thing he had to be posed the question in several different forms to cough that answer up.

Around the 14 minute mark this exchange happened:

Reporter: Did you give Ron enough players or the right players?

Gettleman: Healthy?? Yes, chuckles.

This means 1 of  2 things.

If taking a positive outlook he's just not trying to slam or point fingers at anyone. If he said no, I failed him, then it would open up more questions that would lead to pointing fingers.

If taking a negative outlook, then you think this sob is so arrogant that he'll never learn.

Im taking the positive outlook. I've never been able to really read between the lines in his press conferences in regards to any topic, so I'm not putting any weight into today's press conference.

not sure what you guys expected from this presser. this team overachieved at 17-2 but underachieved heavily this year. considering the amount of games lost by less than 7 points (combined with Gano's misses in close games) this team has the talent to make the playoffs. a rebuild is not necessary; a strong draft/FA addressing DEs, OTs, and S should have us back in contention.

You do realize by saying there are issues with the o-line/backfield, he's saying that it's the players fault.

He can't say there's a problem because that is easily turned towards the players being the issue.

There are some pressers that are worth watching because of their entertainment value, like any Rex Ryan press conference, or Mike Zimmer or Pete Carroll. Some of those guys are pretty funny and enjoyable to watch.

Then there are those that are a complete waste of time and energy, like anytime Belichick steps to a mike. The Carolina Panthers have always been in that category and will always be in that category.

The Panthers could have announced Rivera's firing this morning and I guarantee this press conference would have been no different than what actually took place.

Whoever the GM or HC is in Charlotte should simply walk to the mike, say, "It is what it is. Next?" and be done with the entire presser.

4. He could specify chapter and verse about what really happened from his point of view and people like you would just respond LOL GETTLEDOUCHE LYING SUCKBAG JOSH NORMAN IS GOAT LOL.

people like me?   presumptuous and discredits the merit of the first 3 points, which were valid.

If I took your approach I could say something along the lines of "people like you can watch a 2015 17-2 season turn into a 6-10 2016 season and say STUPID CRITICAL THINKERS CHICKEN LITTLE SKY ISN'T FALLING GETTLEMAN IZ BAE"

@CRA

@FootballLivesMatter

@Ivan The Awesome

He may have been vague but I can tell that he heard ear full from JR

last year he decided to go with his instincts instead of listening to the coaches more, but today showed that he will be listening to Ron & co. before drafting

I Didn't expect much from Dave's presser, so this was par for course actually.

Actions speak louder than words this Offseason, and for Gettleman to make light that Cam "is only 28" to further hamfist his stance that we got pleeeenty of time to right the ship irks me. ALOT.

Figured he brush off Smitty's retirement and Norman questions lmao. Get over yourself, Gettleman, you're not the first and last GM to get those questions especially when you callously oust Fan Favs seemingly every Off Season. Like everyone and their Mama is telling Cam to man up and answer the questions. You do the same.

If he did say that verbatim, then that my friend is a problem and it's something a lot of people including myself mentioned when talking about lack of urgency for a SB. And its not even about the age, if Cam continues to take abuse age won't matter
