Malik Hooker declares for the 2017 NFL Draft

If you want a Ronnie Lott type DB, then best hope Marlon Humphrey declares.

You can play him at any DB position and he is NFL ready. I believe his best position will be at a SS/FS mix the way the Panthers wanted to use Coleman.

Check out the USC game and his highlights to get a quick taste.

He is the son of Bobby Humphrey if you did not know.

If we needed a FS, then yes.

I do not care for how he relies on athleticism, avoids contact, and misses open field tackles.

The issue is he is better than Coleman at FS from an athletic perspective, but they are both the same type of player. Coleman is stronger at the point of attack and he appears to have better leadership qualities.

The Panthers need to move Coleman back to FS and get a SS who can make an impact physically.

The other thing to note is that Hooker does not love the game of football. His passion for the game has been talked about. He has been on the verge of walking away from the game and college until he was named a starter this season. His senior year in HS and his one year as a starter have been the only years he has stomached the game of football. Adversity is not his strong suit.

Even if he miraculously found a Luke like passion for the game of football in a couple of months, the issue remains the Panthers will have investments in Coleman and Hooker if they were to draft him. They will still need a SS.

Ed Reed had a passion for the game to the point he was like Luke in the film room. Reed is coaching and will likely eat and breath football for the rest of his life. Hooker is not even close to an Ed Reed comparison.

Hooker has burnout written all over him. Great athleticism, but not a champion mindset.

You seem to know more about him than I. Even if all this is true, him entering the draft and being a potential top 10 pick may help push Adams down to us.

Chargers are right in front of us and need a saftey as well. Perhaps they go Hooker.

Best news I've heard all day. We are going to have our pick of an elite blue chip prospect at 8 at a position of need. There will be dynamic playmaker options available at S, DE, and RB.

And the Carolina Panthers select:

Moobdawgi Nakabutlzila, Offensive Guard from the University of Central Guam

Its like the OL problems.  If one of those elite OGs is there (future All pro)  you dont pick him and slide your probowl OG in Turner to RT just to plug.  Especially when there is a stud probowl Caliber OT sitti g there to pick aswell

This is like what the Dolphins did to Laremy Tunsil.

They slid a great tackle into their guard spot, because they didn't have good guards. What happened?

He's average at that position. He hasn't made a great impact.

You go for what fits on your team; not try and plug players where they're not natural in. Jamal Adams appears to be a true SS - a position of need - and I think we should go for him.

Malik Hooper may be good, he may just be a one year wonder. But the fact he's a FS should turn on every red light about him.

What makes it great is the Chargers were our only real threat to take a safety, as they're looking for a replacement for Weddle; a FS. Malik Hooper fits just the role.

Panthers need a strong safety. Jamal Adams provides that.

Man, I'm really ecstatic for this draft.
