Shanahan is probably waiting to become the next Cowboys coach. Schottenheimer's already had the Dan Snyder experience, and I think Cowher already told Snyder no once before.

Nope. There are only a handful of coaches in danger of being fired: Fox, Del Rio, Kubiak, and Zorn. There are too many legendary coaches already available out there as well as great coordinators for Fox to get back into it next year.

Even Del Rio doesn't sound bad,at least he would shore up the defense!

Most likely a DC. The trend is your friend, and the trend is that a number of first time head coaches are having a lot of success (Smith, Harbaugh, Ryan off the top of my head). If we have a record which would get Fox fired (7-9 or worse), I don't think there's a lot of owners who would get excited about his performance relative to talent level.

Yep. It didn't took Eric Mangini long to become the new head coach for the Browns after the Jets let him go last year. But then, most teams that are desperate will try to get any former head coach.

He would get another HC job in a heartbeat.

he would get another HC job right away. he would go to his new team and have success within a season or two by taking them back to fundamentals. most people here will say 'look what we let go, he's winning elsewhere.'

then in 5 years all of the problems on the team that he has refused to acknowledged will build up, the players will stop believing in him and realize all he knows is fundamentals, and they will be extremely inconsistent.

i could see this happening but it would have to be a very desperate team that has been told no by other retreads.

fox just isn't nearly as good as a lot of people around here think he is. there are much better options as a HC out there right now, especially among the experienced HCs that are available.

you look at holmgren, cowher, schotty, shanny, gruden, billick and then consider that fisher and turner might be back out on the market next year. then add in that most HC jobs that are available will probably be going to rookie HCs just like the majority of the jobs has been going their direction the past couple years. those teams that are looking for the experienced coach is going to have a good few to choose from and fox just doesn't stand out from any of them.

I hope you're joking with putting Gruden there. He doesn't deserve to be put in the same sentences with the rest there, despite winning a Superbowl with how he took Dungy's team & ran with it.
