But some people are convinced that even the first offer should be taken.

We don't care about some people cause some people want to pay these guys whatever they want regardless of whether they warrant it or not just because they like them.

Boy what a dumpster fire this whole thing turned into over the course of one year. It was only 365 days ago we were the one seed, dominant, vegas favored pick to win the title.  We just ran through our schedule and would wreck Arizona to win the nfccg

Now we have the 8th pick in the draft, a former MVP who is not on good terms with his career choice, an MLB with concussion issues, an all pro home grown CB discarded, and a DT (who last year was second only to Aaron Donald) maybe looking at the same fate.  All the while, our one pass rusher played out of his mind and will likely get overpaid in FA by someone else. Our other pro bowl linebacker has thrown around the "R" word and we have enormous question marks at both offensive tackle positions with a coordinator (still employed) who can't adjust his game plan to take the stress off those turnstiles.

This is why I continue to state that there are no windows in the NFL, which is why I've been so pissed off since the offseason about our complacency. This front office and coaching staff took EVERYTHING for granted last year and just assumed we would be right back in the superbowl the next year with the same players, gameplans, schemes, and mindset. And then people wonder why this franchise is mediocre.

Considering this is Gettlemen's first rodeo as a GM....I don't buy into the "like Dave always says" defense

stud DTs aren't suppose to rack up 12 sacks and if they don't it isn't a sign they aren't that good.  Bradberry isn't now Norman and Butler won't be KK.

KK didn't even have his name mentioned, at all, during the Super Bowl.  He then disappeared, at best, at the start of this, his contract year.  His contract should reflect accordingly and he shouldn't thank his lucky stars to be here.  If not, good riddance!!!

You are out of your mind if you think he's worth 16-17 mil a year.   He ain't getting that here nor anywhere else.

You should check out how much other top DTs get paid and how much cap space there is in the NFL right now. 16-17 is a conservative estimate

he did....and if that is how you use your first round picks how are you getting better?

Said it before and I'll say it again. Gettleman's current method for sustained success is flawed and I don't agree with it.

There is 0 excuses for Gettleman to not knock it out of the park this offseason.

If KK leaves it will suck. Probably not as bad as Norman leaving, since we have reinforcements whereas we didn't for Norman.

Bottom line this is a make or break year for everyone. Gettleman to Rivera. Once Gettleman retained him and later extended him, they should be a package deal.

Anything short of a playoff win or more and reason for optimism heading into 2018, then we have dump the whole front office and start from scratch.

I have and KK isn't playing like a top DT.  He's average at best and just because some dumb ass GM throws away money by over paying for average talent doesn't mean the Panthers should too.  That's Marty Huney thinking.

There are windows IMO.  A young healthy Cam/Luke team is a window and Dave opted to start a ground floor rebuild of our pass defense and waste time.

when you have the DB and DE combo we trotted out there this season you prevent a guy like KK from being able to produce like he can. Yet people fault KK.  It is the Cam logic applied.  The world around them for success is trash yet people blame them

lot of moving parts in football studs have to be in a position to legitimately dominate

He did waste a year, no doubt about it, but at least we have a top 10 pick and aren't saddled with any bad contracts going forward, which is exactly what giving KK what he supposedly wants, would be.

He is a DT.  He is also the only legit player on our DL people have to worry about....so yeah, teams can scheme him out certain weeks.  That isn't a KK issue.

Peyton Manning couldn't throw but he is a good enough football mind to make sure someone else has to beat him.  So the one game KK's name isn't called someone else on the line has a career game.  I'm sure that is totally unrelated.  Manning had KK in his mind that entire game.

Dude, KK couldn't win one on one match ups to save his ass this past season.  That's what he's paid to do and he couldn't do it.   So now we're suppose to pay him top dollar because everyone else sucked?  That's not logic that's delusional.
