Matt Miller: Fournette to Panthers at 8.

The Pick: RB Leonard Fournette, LSU

Despite being the No. 2 overall player in the draft class, Fournette falls here to the Carolina Panthers. He's a perfect fit for the Panthers' offense, as he's the type of running back that can take pressure and attention off Cam Newton in the backfield.

While Fournette hasn't been a dynamic receiver at LSU, he's powerful, fast and has the running instincts to be a Pro Bowl runner right out of the gate. He's big enough to push the pile but also quick enough to make subtle cuts to shake defenders and get outside the hashes.

The Panthers have other needs to fill on defense and on the offensive line, but taking Fournette would give them a very dangerous one-two punch in the backfield.

As genius as Greg Olsen is I can't help but wonder if he tanked the two point conversion knowing how YUGE it was to us winning multiple rings in the future.  Seriously.  Not really.  Kinda.

Hot diggity D@MN it feels good to KNOW we're going to get a STUD at a position of need at 8.

I haven't watched him (like actual games, not just youtube videos), but my question with any rookie RB is how well could they survive our offense?  You know that Todd Gurly dude?  Great talent, but the Rams are a complete dumpster fire.  He was just stuck all year.

So do we have a system that would work for him?  How well does he run in traffic?  Move the pile?  Again, I don't know the specifics, so I'd rather give that over to some of y'all that know better.  I've seen the highlights for many rookie RBs over the years who look great when running on wide open runs, but who fail in the NFL.

Yeah, I saw that. But I've also seen us taking Barnett, Malik Hooker, and some CB I can't even remember.

Just a request this year @Jeremy Igo, maybe a general mock draft thread pinned in the main forum. At this point, the whisperings you hear are the only thing that really matters anyway.

Barnett 1a, Fournette 1b for me.  And at 8, unlike 12, it's truly hard to imagine one of the two not being available at this point.

Dave Gettlemen be like..."hmm, what about if I claim this DT is the BPA?"

Do we have an OL to traditionally run the football? Not currently.

and if you don't...your RB is irrelevant.

Draft Fournette and seriously put enough energy, time, focus and money to the oline
