Panthers Defense: Second in Sacks, Second in INTs.

Carolina O had the 8th best TOP in the NFL.  So no, they spent less time on the field than most defenses.

Our D just stunk.  Can't claim they were on the field too much because they weren't.  Can't claim injuries because they sucked healthy.  D just stunk.

Just take out the fact that Panther's gave up a massive amount of yards through the air, and you'll see the greatness in the defense.

Fournette or Cook. Relying on Stewart who is often injured is not going to help the team. Both of the guys I mentioned are legit stars at the next level.

An offensive player taken in the 1st round needs to be a freak, must see the field, and must impact the offense's weakness. Currently, the weakness is converting on 3rd down with the pass. If the offensive player will not change the 3rd down passing offense, then they do not need to be drafted and will fail to make a significant impact to change the win column.

Those stats seem inaccurate.

Cam had 14 INTs and 3 fumbles. How do you get 29 turnovers by himself?

And according to multiple sites, our offense was top 10 in time of possession and finished 4th best in 3-and-out % (4th fewest) . How did the defense spend more time on the field than anyone else?

They did not. They just got continually gashed with outside runs and completions to the sidelines - typically for 1st downs. This was very apparent in the 4th quarter with one of the worst 4th quarter defensive performances in a season.

i don't really know what you can glean from that collection of stats; they're so contradictory.

It did seem though that when the defense got gashed, it was historic. Other than that they were pretty average.

A lot of the worst pass defenses had a lot INTs this year.  It just meant teams were willing to throw all over them. Sacks dont measure how well you actually stop a team.  You can get 2 sacks on a drive where a QB goes for 85 yards and a TD.  You can get a INT in a game where a QB goes for 400+ yards.

Avoiding a difference maker in the first round on offense will come back to haunt the team. That is all. To each their own have a good day.

If Fournette is gonna by 8 would you rather us reach for a player or draft a solid S/DE that will likely be there.

I'm waiting for the "trade down" reply that, more than likely, won't be there.

Also worth noting we allowed the seventh most PPG/Points this season and was 11th in total time on the field

Another thing to note is we had to blitz a LOT more this season to get pressure, only two players on out dline had 5 or more Sacks, its naive to say we don't need dline help, this will also take a LOT of pressure off of our secondary.

I'm not saying anything against this. Not sure how this relates to my post. My argument was that the defense was not on the field more than any other team.

Disagree I believe our run game and consistency is the problem and puts us in long 3rd down passing situations. Play calling is also the problem but that should be solved in 2018 sadly.

We had massive problems picking up 3rd downs on Offense this year. We also under performed in the red zone. Gano cost us 3 games this year. We couldve beat Tampa, Denver thats just two and I know there is a 3rd one somewhere in this season. Blitz pickup was the biggest issue (especially delayed blitzes).  Cam couldnt never get comfortable with the make shift oline. Defensively, we are actually ok. We need 1 pass rusher and resign CJ fior 1 year for veteran leadership and backup roll. Addison, Horton and Ealy might be good enough but 1 elite draft pick pass rusher might solidify it. And my gosh give KK a contract.
