I think the entire coaching staff plus Gettleman knows 2017 is NOT another re-building year, so I'm expecting them to do whatever it takes to turn our team into a powerhouse...

Yeah so let us draft more defensive players and ignore the offense. Sounds about right. That is all go about your day people.

This is nothing new we have "history"  to backup us up that if your offense is a turd then your not gonna win that many games.

-Build the offense through the draft

-Address the holes on defense via FA

-We don't want to be the Jets & Bills of the NFL.

I am sure they racked up many stats, seeing as they were on the freaking field most of the game every game.

Winner winner.

We led the league in how long our defense was on the field according to pro football reference. So that's a lot of time to get more sacks, and more takeaways from time to time. Takeaways mean fug all if you follow it up with a three and out of your own and then the opponent goes right back down and scores again.

Also we were 7th in rush attempts, but 20th in yards/attempt, which kinda reinforces the notion that we tried to run the ball this year, but just weren't very good at it.

Cam also had 29 turnovers by himself if my math is right, so again all those takeaways mean nothing when you are giving the ball right back.

I would love to go offensive line in the draft, but from what I hear it's an awful draft for lineman. So if there is any available FA on that front I hope DG pulls the trigger and spends some money.

Gonna be an interesting offseason.

Those stats seem inaccurate.

Cam had 14 INTs and 3 fumbles. How do you get 29 turnovers by himself?

And according to multiple sites, our offense was top 10 in time of possession and finished 4th best in 3-and-out % (4th fewest) . How did the defense spend more time on the field than anyone else?

Carolina pass D was garbage.  Climbed from 32nd to 29th worst.

other trash pass defenses had the same number of INTs.  GB, Oak, NYG, etc.

we got sacks because teams simply LOVED to pass on us.  We would sack them and then they would come right back and drive back down the field on us.  The sack number doesn't = good defense.  We were bad and the collective stats show that

Our defense finished 2nd in sacks and 2nd in INTs yet we as a team finished with a negative turnover differential. The defense was also 10th best on opponent 3rd down conversions.

Both the offense and defense have fancy stats to point at in order to restore optimism but the truth is both sides of the ball failed. I don't understand why people are arguing for one side or the other. This year was a complete failure. Offense, defense, special teams, coaching, and GM.

Carolina O had the 8th best TOP in the NFL.  So no, they spent less time on the field than most defenses.

Our D just stunk.  Can't claim they were on the field too much because they weren't.  Can't claim injuries because they sucked healthy.  D just stunk.
