Rams GM contacting Saints; want Sean Payton as Head Coach

Thoughts on a Brees / Payton package deal to Denver for a boatload of picks? Seems like it could make sense for both teams.

(Romo's assumed presence in the market does depress the former's value a bit, though likely by not much).

I agree top dawg, though I may be of a different mindset of what caused the ship to go off course. DG finally is out of cap hell and will be able to spend a bit more on veterans to fill holes. Don't expect any huge names but could see some solid guys brought in, especially at TE, DE, SS, WR, etc.

I'm most excited about what will be, by far, the best draft stock that DG has ever had. 8th overall and a 3rd round comp... Ooh boy.

What I most want to see but am not so confident will happen is Shula and Dorsey both long gone. I'm still 95% behind Rivera and that 5% is only due to him being blindly loyal to his staff. DG forced his hand with ST a little while ago so I hope either Ron makes the decision on those two now, or SG forces his hand again.

Even if that doesn't happen I'll be very excited to get guys back from injury and for other personnel improvements. Some important FAs but anticipate we'll have no problems keeping them aside from KK. Addison may be tougher but think we'll be able to hold him.

KK will be one of the most interesting storylines. Have a gut feeling DG will bank on Butler and let KK walk but tag is also very possible, maybe even likely. I'd be cool with a good extension (not top 3-5 DT money).

Oher's situation will be interesting as well, and a possible Smitty 1 day contract and possible Peppers homecoming...

All in all, much more excited about this offseason than last year's coming off the SB loss.

Hate to derail thread (no I don't, Payton can KMA), but I'd rather talk Panthers. That being said, I just don't see us getting a vet free agent at TE or WR that will garner much excitement. You said it yourself, "Don't expect any huge names..."

The only TE that may pique my interest is Cook who we reportedly had interest in last year. As for WR, I'd be shocked if we expressed any legit interest (aka dollar bills) in Alshon or D-Jax. Who else would make any appreciable difference, and what would compel them to come here? As for any other WR in FA, I'm more excited by what we already have (or, at least feel equally meh about).

The Chiefs are going to lock Berry up before he hits the market (not that G-man would pay to get him), and the only other guys I know of off the top of my head worth exploring are Cyprien and Swearinger.

The thought of Pep is interesting for the right price, but is JPP worth a huge payday?  Would Gholson even matter? We better lock up CJ and Super Mario.

KK is going to get his top 5 money. He's probably earned it (and I say that grudgingly), but it'll only come from us in the form of the tag if Short doesn't compromise.

Although I don't seem as optimistic as you about that pool of free agents, other than the top ones at their position (save for an aged Julius Peppers or possibly CB), I am excited about the possibility of G-man making some great value moves that could be very valuable in our bid to rise back to prominence this new year. Gettleman just needs to follow his own philosophy regarding using FA to set up the draft.

Oh you just know the league would be (or should if they could get their head out of their asses) watching them like a haek if Payton were to go to the Rams. Nothing like reuniting the two people in charge of Bountygate lol.

If that happens, I suspect Williams is out of a job.

Payton and Williams are said to hate each other now. Reportedly, Payton blames Williams for his suspension and Williams feels like Payton used him as a scapegoat.

Not so sure they could coexist as colleagues again.

hey rams why pay a premium for a vicodin addict with a butthole for a mouth when you can have this perfectly serviceable ron rivera?

And you replace Ron Rivera with who? There isn't anyone out there that's half way decent available. Hence why you got the rams trying to steal a coach from the other team.

as I've also mentioned before I don't understand all the hate for Ron when Gettleman played a much bigger role with the teams issues this year
