If Derek Barnett is unavailable with our first pick I would be extremely happy with this draft....which means it will never happen.

At this point it's more likely he will be available. I think the Bengals were the only threat to that, and now we're ahead of them.

Jamal Adams is the less likely guy to be available - Chargers may shoot for him.

Yes, I'm tired of seeing Boston blow his assignment or just be completely incompetent in the backfield. Get a real SS, move Coleman back to FS and the secondary will no longer be an issue. Carolina hasn't had a legit SS in a while, it's time to take care of that position like Gettleman did with the DT.

Love Love Love this one @Saca312

ive been talking about wanting this for weeks now on the Draft Forum.

to the one saying we need a vet at SS instead.  This kid is mature beyond his years.  His instincts are top notch.  People don't realize how big a locker room leader he is too.  On the field he probably the only Safety to call plays for the defense (it's always the linebackers see Luke).  Someone who can QB the whole defense (a top tier P5 on top of that) from that posistion.  We won't need to worry about having a vet

The reason for that is the LBs location in the defense. It doesn't really make sense to have a safety do it. A LB can tell the DL the play then turn around and tell the DBs the play. A Safety either has to run up to the DL to communicate the play or relay it through a LB which can be problematic as the game "telephone" can show. If it's being relayed through a LB then why not just a LB be the one with the speaker in his helmet.

What if we traded up to get Garrett

That would be a monumentally idiotic decision. It would take multiple 1st round picks plus a 2nd and maybe a couple 3rds. The only time that is ever worth it is for a QB and even then it is debatable.

Yeah. The gap between Garrett and Charlton isn't big enough, I still think we get Charlton at 8 cause we need a pass rusher

Yeah, Charlton could end up better in the pro's than Garrett

Barnett will be a consideration at 8 as well.

Last year Philly gave up #8, their 3rd round pick, their 4th round pick, 2017 1st round pick and a 2018 2nd round pick to move up to #2. It would cost us similar to move up to get Garrett who I'm not even sold on. Saw a stat that only 10 of his 32 career sacks were against SEC opponents whereas Barnett, Allen and Williams had 25+ sacks against SEC teams. Garrett has been loading up against really weak competition and disappearing against good teams.

Also with Foreman.  Now Fournette, I love and is a elite guy hyped as the next AP (has been even more hyped than zeke the last couple of years).

we could still get a probowl safety also a guy who could be a potential pro bowler in or offense.  Foreman is a faster Blount with a better head.  Not a scat guy who can catch pases like Cook or Mcaffrey.  Even if we fire Shula our offense will revolve around the power running game, that's just how Rivera likes it.  And that's how Gettlemans likes it (see where he came from the giants Brandon Jacobs offense)

I love Stewie but he's made of glass and he's not cheap.  Actually saw a thing on ESPN this week he was the 3rd or 4th highest paid RB this season. And we still owe him a ton this next year.  Opening 6 mil or so can go a good way into locking up key guys or getting a OT FA.  This OT FA class is weak but so is this draft class, a solid vet would still be a huge upgrade to Remmers.  And if Oher can come back to last year form (graded out one of the top OTs and first probowl alternate) we should be much better.  People keep reverting back to the Super Bowl. Stewart got nicked up and the running game went away.  Thus causing 3rd and longs and the D pinning back for the rush.  Williams is already 10x better than Remmers at run blocking on the right side.  Maintaining a constant game is just a big upgrade to protecting Cam than any LT in this draft
