Got to remember when pure stat comparing....89 didn't play his entire career in a pass enchanced league like a Mike Evans will be doing.  Decent chunk of 89's career was when DBs could maul (some of 89's best years)

Good luck to my favorite Panther of all time! Much love to Smitty. I will never forget how much fun he made the game to watch. His touchdown celebrations were the best ever. Ice up Son! Definitely HOF bound and should be our first Hall of Famer.

But, yea I miss Smith and will miss him in his retirement. All Jake had to do was throw it up, and Smith was going to somehow come down with it. I hope he comes back to Carolina and retires, but I don't think that will happen as long as Gettleman is in charge. Both are too prideful. I still believe that whole situation with him being cut could've been handled a lot better. I was ok with releasing him, but it could have been done better.

Gettleman was an idiot on the way he delt with Smith.

Love #Agent89 and will always be disgusted at how Gettleman handled his release as he deserved better. Sad to see him leave the game and hope Getts will not be a douchenozzle about signing Smitty to a 1 day tenure and if he is - here is one Panther fan who will be very vocal with the organization about doing this. Best wishes and thank you for an amazing career with the Panthers and the NFL.  Ain't anyone out there with his fire and spirit and I will miss seeing him on the field.  Glad he left on his terms and walked away when he was ready.
