If Rivera had benched Cam and then you heard Cam wanted to play, you'd have been up in arms. Instead, he tries to bench him and Cam says no, so you're mad at Rivera for not benching him. There's no winning on that one.

The point is, Cam shouldn't have been playing AT ALL.

He will probably go quietly and have some arthroscopic now surgery done I'm sure. He doesn't even look the same running. Hope he is able to mend up and regroup. And knowing Cam, he won't dare blame any of his struggles on any of his injuries. He probably doesn't think he's injured lol.

Man, what a slippery slope. I mean, Cam definitely needs time to refresh, and rest. But he also has work to do. That, and does that shoulder need attention? Or that ankle? Hopefully, they both only need rest. Because surgery would set back what work he can get in.

Best case, rest and relaxation is all Cam needs. And when it is time to get to work, he will be healthy in mind, as well as body. I am sure I am not the only one on pins and needles hoping Cam will come back with a vengeance next year.

I agree completely. Do you think some of that has mentally affected him? I love to say, or think, that Cam is cool and he can block it out. I know he has great people around him but he's human and I'm realizing that no matter how much he tries to shut it out, it has probably gotten to him a lot this year. The media, the public, all of it. Its one thing for your family to have your back but when your employer has your back, it's easy to shrug and keep going.

Not sure if that's effected him mentally, but we all know that first game took its toll.  Injuries, defensive setbacks, obviously biased officiating and the lack of vocal support from the organization had to have a cumulative effect on his enthusiasm throughout the season.

I hope its temporary and that the wounds heal so they can get this thing turned around.

Hes such an amazing athlete and person, I just don't want to see him destroyed or worse, wasted.

That's what makes it so hard for me to understand people and him. I don't think anybody could do well with all the scrutiny. I think once he's no longer the MVP and he doesn't have so much spotlight on him I think he'll be a lot better off because he has a lot of pressure on him to begin with. for him to be the face of the league and for us to have a 15-1 season and then this season being as bad as it is 🤦🏾‍♂️. Cam likes the spotlight and likes the attention but I think he needs to realize that it is a double edge sword and not a lot of people like him so as much praises he can/will get the amount of criticism/hate Comes back 10 times as much. As much support he gets he does not take hate well, because in truth none of us really would or do, and even if we keep a brave face it affects us mentally.

I think the outside noise is getting to him. That, and the headhunting/refs out to get him has affected him. I didn't see the Cam of 5 years at all this season. I mean, he had the head hunters coming at him, refs not protecting him, BLM debacle, his o line issues...man it's all piled up on him this year.

I've been lukewarm on Rivera, but he lost me this year. He waited too long to back his star player, and even made that dumbass "I would've took the shot" comment after his concussion in ATL. He probably felt the world was against him. His coach needed to have his back.

No Rivera supporter, but this is a reach imo.

Luke and Cam situations aren't the same.

Cam is hurt, but he's not injured. Luke isn't anymore either but c'mon, concussions are a whole 'nother thing.

Potential for long term damage playing with an injured shoulder especially with this terrible OL. Should have been pulled, same as Luke.

Yeah, I agree. I think he tried to keep a brave face about it but you can tell it's gotten to him. I think in years past, he's been able to pretty much fight through it all but the man is human. He had people questioning his game, his blackness, his manhood, people coming for his head and the organization stayed silent about a lot of it. I said way back in week 3 that Cam isn't trusting anyone right now. You can look at him and tell.

I hope he's able to bounce back. Heavy is the head that wears the crown; prince with a thousand enemies.

I don't think he's ever had a problem with the criticism. I don't recall ever seeing him this out of it. I think this year it was so much. But I do agree, the fact that he had that 15-1 season and MVP opened him up for even more because the same was expected this year. I know he will be okay and come back with a chip on his shoulder.
