Offense struggling, let's draft more defense

I so agree with this. But the huddle elitist will come along and throw some best player available/trust gettleman jive any minute now and we will end up drafting another lb like Shaq Thompson. Go panthers!

no ones saying to draft a LB. It could very well be a defensive player like a S or DE could help us more than a stretch(underwhelming perhaps) OT or whatever position you want.

It would be more helpful to debate actual players that would help than just positions. There isn't a true top 10 tackle in this years draft so just saying draft a tackle might not be the best case

2015 doesn't matter anymore, its 2017 and our offense is in dire need of help.

This offense is so flawed theirs no such thing as a "reach". Reaching would be adding a defensive player that would be another brick in the wall.

Getting a offensive pick is nice, but as your statement says, our offense is flawed. It doesn't matter if we dont get a new OC

We can mask a bad OC with more talent.

Why does Rivera need more defensive talent? Isn't he a defensive specialist?

Cook is not a Top 10 pick lulz...

Robinson is twice the player that Garrett is????

I guess the average IQ in here is on par with a pebble. Thank the football gods that y'all dumbasses are here and not anywhere near the front office.

Lololololololol

Cook is easily top 10. Any other year he would be rb1 and frankly I prefer fournette but cook isn't that far behind..

The best wideout from this draft is Mike Williams.

He makes a lot of drops.

Not much offensive talent at the WR/OT position, and there's no immediate impact guys there either.

This class is stacked at TE and RB, with many as far as the 3rd round that'll have a great impact.

It's also heavily loaded defensively, and a top 8 pick should get us an immediate game changer; most likely a S or DE.

I expect the 1st round to be the only place we really pick defense. Expect an offense loaded draft to fix out RBs, TEs, and projects at OT and a 3rd down WR.

We all know tackle is the biggest need. That said the value just isn't there. I think Cam Robinson no red flags is worthy. Atleast where we are picking. Before the issues a lot of scouts had him as a possible number 1 pick overall. But with that said guns and weed we aren't picking him. The best pass rusher are gone top 5. So I'm iffy on another end where we are right now.

I need to see more combine numbers and so on but right now it would be a "slight" reach. Rb would be the next thing up for me Lenard Fournette is just what the doctor ordered and would immediately upgrade our ground attack. He is a one in a generation talent. Size speed total package. He is probably gone to the jets at 6 tho.

Cook is nothing to sneeze at..as an fsu fan I have like  Fournette more but any other year cook is rb1 and isn't 2 far away from Fournette. He's probably better in the passing game and can do it all. If you have Lenard here u can't just say cook isn't worthy. Splitting hairs on these 2 guys.

If I had to go with a defensive guy where we are im all in on Jamal Adams. He's next in line as that monster safety. I ve seen Matt Miller compare him to Sean Taylor today and after seeing some tape I'm ok with this pick.Tre Boston is a backup.

Ideally, we patch all our holes in free agency so we can go BPA.  Mainly, that means re-signing a few guys, getting healthy, and finding some hidden gems on the market.  I don't see any genuine prospects at either LT or S that we will likely sign, either.  But I suspect we'll sign a couple anyway.

I do not believe there is an OT that's ready to start in the draft.  Since we will likely have to develop one anyway, I expect DG to grab a couple on day two and three.  I also expect him to favor a DE over a Safety in round one.  I'm not sure if he is content with our receivers right now--attitude and protection would make them all look a lot better right now.

So, that leaves a RB or a defensive player in round one, unless we are able to trade down.  I will be happy with either, so long as we don't grab another linebacker/tweeter.

I agree with you on most of that. I really really really don't want cook though. I dont feel like typing out another huge essay why, but I don't think he will do nearly as well as fournette in the nfl. Would love fournette though. Also Robinson struggles against speed rushers or so Ive heard, and projects as more of a run blocking RT. We need a good pass blocking LT imo.

If fournette isn't there I would say barnett and Adams (hooker if he declares) are good and plausible choices

Screw offense vs. defense.  That's a sucker's argument.  Picking this high, you have to get an impact player and you have to get the best player.  An impact defensive player helps the offense in field position and turnovers.  Fournette, if he's there, is the pick.  Otherwise it has to be Barnett or Adams.

Defensive loaded draft. Suck it up, bitch.

We don't need another QB or WR.

Hate to break it to you but we do need another wide out.  Ginn is inconsistent and we  need speed.  Funchess and Benjamin can't separate. Byrd has not shown he can supplant Ginn. Brown is irrelevant.  We need a speed wide out.

Our offense struggled when it was fully healthy. So you point is mute.

Thiers no such thing as a reach with this offense. It can be a second rate LT and we still be a tremendous update over what he have now.

That's not really true.

To expect a "second rate LT" to come in and  be better then our starting LT (Oher) in their first year is a bit overly optimistic. I am guessing Oher probably graded out in the upper half of tackles in the league last year.  If quality tackles were really that easy to find there would be more of them.

Personally I've thrown around Ross name in other threads.  I actually think he could fill a nice need in our offense.  I probably wouldn't draft him 8th with some of the other people available.  Now if we trade down I could see him coming into play in that 12-18 range.  Depending on who is gone at 8, trading down might be the smart play but honestly our GM hasn't shown a desire to trade down, unfortunately.

I watched the 2016 game and to say he destroyed him is a bit of an overstatement.  Robinson is a good run blocker, nobody is arguing that but pass protections is the issue.  Alabama only threw the ball 25 times that game and a lot of those throws were quick.  Cam does good at the college level with that team around him but how will he hold up at the pro level when Cam is taking forever to get rid of the ball?  He might allow more pressure then Oher.

The idea that all of resources go to offense is also a bit overplayed around here especially by the Cam apologist.  Our cap space is heavily tilted towards the offense.  I do agree the early picks have favored defense but its not like it has been all offense.

We spent a first round pink on KB, traded up high in the second for Funchess, third round for Turner, fourth I think for Williams, added a FA left tackle, have one of the highest paid centers, one of highest paid running backs, one of highest paid full backs and an All Pro TE.  IF we need a high draft pick or high dollar free agent at every positon on offense to be successful maybe it is an issue with the coaches or the QB.

We could use the top 3 picks on offense for the next 10 years and there are some on here who will still cry about Cam "not having help" the minute we didn't score 50 in a game.

Its early in the draft process but I'm hoping we do lean somewhat towards offense in the first 3 rounds but I'm not about to say we should force some certain positions in the first round.  I would love to see some combination of DE, WR, TE, S, RB, and OT in the first three rounds. Problem is we only have 4 picks.

The fact is most players in the draft are no better then what is already in the league, A smaller percentage turn out to be JAGs. An even small percent turn out to be quality starters. A select few will turn out to be elite players, guys that would considered top-3 at their position in the league for an extended time.  How many of those do we actually have on the team?...3-6....Luke, Greg, Short, Turner, Kalil, Cam last year?  A few of those are getting older and honestly a few them are probably in the 4-6 range this year. league wide.

If we are picking in the top 10 that is the player you are looking for and even then it is no guarantee,  You just play odds and select the person you think has the best chance.
