2013: 5 picks, 2 offense, 3 defense

2014: 6 picks, 3 offense, 3 defense

2015: 5 picks, 3 offense, 2 defense

2016: 5 picks, 1 offense, 4 defense

Basically, prior to this year, Gettleman had made 16 picks and they were split evenly between both sides of the ball.

The 2016 draft? Lopsided, but it's the only one.

Seems pretty disingenuous to casually omit the 2016 draft considering it's direct impact (good, and bad) on such a disastrous season we've witnessed this year.

Either way you want to cut it, we've invested a hell of a lot in our defense throughout the last 6 years.

The 2017 offseason is put up or shut up time. We must go all in for our offense. No excuses.

Im not sure about all in but at the very least tremors must go back to depth and cam must have another reliable threat who can catch the fuging ball.  Stewart will be fine another year behind a half ass line.

Safety and another pass rusher are a must.

So if Gettleman can override him...it's not ACTUALLY his call now is it ? Rivera has the power until he doesn't . It's all for looks .

Very few GMs will step on a coach's authority to determine his own staff.

Gettleman has shown no indication he's willing to do that.

Ron job is to evaluate players and make changes when necessary. The fact that Tolbert still playing for this team is testament to RR being loyal to a player despite pathetic production. Ron has shown his unwillingness to change despite all evidence to the contrary. This team will never be a perennial winner until that changes.

but that's what it is, remember we are the only team with NFL logo  in the midfield

This is how it's worked since Hurney. I mean you are telling me things are different when Dave was told he could not fire Rivera before Dave was hired? So like what has changed? Dave controls personal and that's it.

First. The Logo at mid-field because JR is showing his loyalty to the NFL. That has nothing to do with the hierarchy within the Organization.

Second. I am not sure why you think that a GM doesn't have any power? Next to the Owner, the GM is top dog where football operations are concerned. Gman controls the players, coaches, scouts, any and all personnel involved with the football side of the Franchise.

If Gman wanted, he could fire Rivera today, and name Proehl as the HC. Ron has control over his staff, and that's pretty much it. If Ron wants to cut a player, because of contract constrictions, he has to get GMans approval.

Lastly. When he got the job, Gman was told Ron was his Coach. That is true. But it is only so, because Ron was only in the second year of his contract. You usually don't fire a Coach after only two years, even if you, as we did, bring in a new GM. That scenario does not take away the power that Gman has over Ron.

You, for some reason, have taken the circumstances of Gmans' hiring, and turned it into Gman having no power. That just isn't the case.

I have a hard time believing that Dave Gettleman can't fire who needs to be fired but because of Jerry Jones in Dallas, I can actually believe it.

I pretty much thought this would be common knowledge. I guess I can see how Gman not getting to hire his own Coach could cause confusion. But by and large. The GM is the boss. I mean, Ron was only in his second year when Gman arrived. Just because we kept our Coach, it does not mean Gman has no power.

I wonder if/when Gman fires Ron, if @Snake will say it was actually JR who fired Ron?

That Jerry. He is something ain't he?
