Didn't read the article, did you?

"The Panthers and I came to an agreement that everyone was happy with and allowed me to continue my career in Carolina," Gross said. "... I wanted to be a Panther and this contract echoes that sentiment."

He had to take a paycut and agree to have the deal void the following year to stay on the team. His goal was to retire a panther and I'm sure he intended to play the final year of his deal before being  forced to sign the new one.

Gettleman had a year to prepare for his departure, since he created the clause with the final year being voided.

His best solution even with the advance notice was to move Byron Bell to LT and start Nate Chandler at RT.

Not hard to say this was one of his blunders that hurt us.

The Panthers are a playoff team next year.

Loads of cap room, players returning from injury, a tough and down season to force hard looks at moving on from some players that should have been let go last year (Tolbert, Dickson), and a coaching staff that is all the sudden on the hot seat.

Again, does not show his being "forced out" and his own post-retirement words from the other interview clearly show he was not.

You got nothing.

Your interpretation of it and mine are different.

Gross had 2 years left on his contract. Gettleman at the very least approached Gross about lowering his cap figure for 2013. This fact is indisputable.

Gross took a paycut for 2013 and agreed to have his final year of his deal voided. Another indisputable fact.

Gross said he was happy they found a resolution to allow him to finish his career as a Panther.

There was no real benefit to Gross agreeing to the 2014 year being voided. He stood to gain nothing from that. The cap hit for cutting him after the 2013 season would have been 0, since there was no longer any prorated money due.

So it's just a matter of how you interpret the events that happened. I'll say this it was possible that maybe he knew he didn't want to play past 2014 anyway, when Gettleman came
to him and asked him restructure.

So there is a possibility Gross knew he wanted 13 to be his last year and didn't object to the 14 year being voided. If that's the case fine, but Gettleman left him with no choice to come back after the 14th year was voided.

Your interpretation is a huge reach and pretty much ignores everything Gross said himself.

You're trying to force your own interpretation into the narrative and the facts don't back you up.

Feel free to keep trying, but again, you've got nothing.

He would never have been playing in the voidable year, so you can't look at it like Gettleman cut his time short.

Oh, you can...

...if you're trying toforce a tinfoil hat conspracy theory that isn't supported by the facts into the narrative.

If you're actually looking at reality, wellll...
