What would it take

Out of position like I said in OP

They don't think so. He's seemingly playing it quite well.

Danny Shelton is their young NT drafted highly. I doubt they would trade Ogbah away to pick up a NT they don't need.

Shelton is the only one pulling his weight at the moment.  You can't expect a 270 lb guy to play a 34 DE position that well when all his counterparts are at 290 to 305 lbs.  They probably drafted Ogbah hoping he could be their next Von Miller.  Wrong.  Now, they will try Garrett with hopes he can be their Von Miller.  Notes from Cleveland.com.

"Le'Veon Bell rushed for 146 yards, so it's not as if the Browns defense was owning the line of scrimmage. But they finally stayed away from giving up the long plays. The longest run was 12 yards, the longest pass was 21 yards. Defensive tackle Danny Shelton continues to play well against the run, but that's not true of some others on the defensive line."

My scenario was for discussion only, that is why it is a message board.  Not at you, but some of the lack of football knowledge posters can only go ankle deep in "what if" scenario discussions.  "lets trade for Elliott" and stuff makes them look like such 12 yr olds.

Anyway, the over arching issue for the Panthers are the trenches where they have NO pass rush and cannot stop the pass rush.  OT's and DE's are our biggest need and FA and the draft suck for those two positions, thus the trade thoughts.  Cleveland is one of the dumber orgs in the league and with a guy, out of position, and with us not being able to keep all 3 DT's, anyway, just throwing stuff out.

The fact you're attempting to push that we have no pass rush is already an old statement that holds no merit.

We do have a pass rush. Addison is our guy for that. Charles Johnson has proven when he's not an every down DE, he's a fantastic disruptor. Against the Falcons, I think Addison himself got a sack based on pure pass rush alone, and their tackles are playing well this year, not to mention he's our sack leader.

The Panthers lead the league in sacks right now.

The issue is whether we need an every down DE or not. I don't think it'll be necessary be an issue we need to look at honestly until the 2018 draft.

Our DT's are playing lights out, and they've been rushing the pass a lot. Star is the guy who's critical to the success of other DTs, getting all the double and triple teams. Look no further than the Arizona game to see what happens when teams pay no attention to Star. If we lose Star we lose our pass rush from our DTs.

The only weakness I'd see on our team defensively and offensively is SS and a LT. With a solid SS (hopefully we get Jamaal Adams) that can communicate AND play, we'd have a solid secondary with Worley and Bradberry already showing they're NFL starter caliber now.

If Oher isn't at 100%, then we'd have a LT issue. What I can see is us going hard for Matt Kalil off of FA and getting him, or another one of Gettleman's gems. Otherwise, I can see us not spending too much in FA because we don't have to imho. Get ourselves a LT, maybe a solid possession type of receiver for 3rd down situation, and maybe an every down DE if we're stretching the ticket. Otherwise, I think we'd be fine.
