Smitty

Many are quick to do a pile on after we part with players-- smith, dwill, Norman, but wow what a serious amount of hate for arguably the best Panther ever,..

I have a question for DG,.. what do we look like the last couple seasons if Smith Dwill and Norman are still here today?

Do we win that Super Bowl? Do we return to the playoffs this year instead of rooting for draft picks?

Smitty would be retired by now (from his own mouth back in 2013), Deangelo would still be a poor fit for this offense and probably would have missed games (out for 9 this year, 19 since 2014), and Norman would be a definite boost to the secondary.

Smith has said he would retire every year since and hasn't so I wouldn't put much in to that.

Its crazy that Steve and DWill both basically said that they got comfortable here and being cut was a wake up call for lack of a better term. But people still think they would've had the same production here, which just isnt the case. Dwill lost 15 pounds to have a bounce back season, why didn't he lose that weight in carolina....because he didnt have anything to prove.

lets play the what if game.  Ravens are out of the playoffs some chatter said John Harbaugh would be on the hot seat.  Lets say he takes the LA Rams job.  Team does some reorganization... Lets say Steve Smith comes back to charlotte... I know this wont happen but damn I want smitty to retire a panther.

Haters will still search high and low for reasons to discount's Smith's role on this team and his contributions to any success the Panthers had.

It's a shame some simply cannot admit the guy had a great career and they'll always come back with the, "Yeah, but..." even when Smith is making his HOF induction speech.

Jumpman said it well. Who knows how things would have ultimately turned out, but the 'look at Smitty and DWill - imagine if they were still here' comments seem to completely forget how much being cut reinvigorated each of them.

I think Smith would have been reinvigorated by any success here. I couldn't care less about dwill. He's never been ano important piece like Smith or Norman.

Lol...the pt is reinvigorating the Panthers...the D-will thing no biggie...but the Smitty thing was huge and it took a few years to see how...which can also be said for the Norman thing...collateral damage done... exposed G-man ...
