Like I've said before, if you aren't a racist asshole, then I wasn't referring to you. I don't give a damn if I lost your "forum" respect. Bye.

Cam has so much God given ability, it's scary. But it has nothing to do with the color of his skin. And nobody brought that up, except for you. If we get a kickass LT, does Cam's skin tone become a nonfactor?

Dallas is doing well this year, go pull for them. If the color of the QB is so god damned important to you.

Were you high when you wrote this?

Lol@ the white rage towards Cookie. As though the thought of a significant portion of this fan base being bigots is preposterous. There is legit criticism and then there's the couching of racism in bullshit complaints about his mechanics and "work ethic", etc.  We have some incredible human beings in our ranks, but the drafting of Cam Newton has, unfortunately, shone the light on the significant number of cockroaches among us as well.

“I look at even best quarterbacks that they said played this game, and mechanically, it’s not about that,” he said. “It’s about completions.”

-----Cam Newton, December 8, 2016

If you fail to see the problem with Cam Newton in this Cam Newton quote, I can't help you.

Now I don't have a PhD in translating Cam and his weird way of saying things but I assume this quote is supposed to say it doesn't matter if he can't set his feet or stand in the pocket, great qbs find ways to complete passes even if it looks ugly. I really want to believe it isn't Cam saying that shitty mechanics are ok, it's him saying even if his mechanics are shitty he has to find a way to still be accurate and move the offense.

Hard to say what he meant, but it does reflect a missed opportunity to state the obvious relationship between greatness and mechanics.that are pretty much common to all the great QBs.

This is a wild fuggin thread.

Even the best need help and coaching. Cam can be the best ever, with help. He needs a coaching staff that will keep him growing, evolving, and Shula is proving he is not doing either.

Then DG trying to get one more year out of the Oline...ugh mistake.

If DG addresses the OC and Oline this season, we haven't seen the best from Cam here, yet.  If DG doesnt correct the problems, then we'll see the best of Cam somewhere else. Either way, we haven't seen the best of Cam.

As sad as this is I personally know several people who don't like Cam for that reason and believe DA is the better option and should be the starter.

A lot of Cam's issues are things that are coachable that for one reason or another our coaching staff don't seem too concerned about helping him learn how to fix them. This leads me to believe that obviously Shula needs to be replaced but maybe Ken Dorsey as well since as the QB coach he is supposed to be working with Cam directly on these things. Cam has tremendous talent and if we can find the right guys to help him with the few things holding him back and fix the O line so he isn't rushed so much then Cam would easily climb up to the top and force people to respect his play whether they like it or not.

I've always hated it... his spiral has always been ugly and wobbly,  his deep balls are horrible, and his easy money passes sail high. All that is a result of poor footwork and throwing motion.

We been watching the same Cam Newton passes? He also one of the better deep ball passers in the league- but hey

If you're talking about arm strength then yea... but accuracy... hell no. Underthrown...overthrown... out of bounds.... he has had a couple games where he was on point, but for the most part, he just uses strength to chuck it down field and hope his man can get there.

Recent example;

The play the Norman almost intercepted... that was Underthrown horribly, not a great play by Norman.

I won't even say it's all Cam, maybe he doesn't have his timing down with his receivers, maybe he doesn't trust them... who knows...all I know is the on field product is regressing every week it seems.

Cam is one of the faces of this franchise.

When he or the team play badly, harsh words are going to shower down.  Guess what guys, that happens with almost every single NFL team out there.

You think some fans weren't going crazy with Ben's "bad" day yesterday?

You think some fans weren't questioning Rodgers earlier in the year?

You think some fans had given up on Palmer earlier this season?

You think some fans didn't want Stafford run out of town on rails prior to this season?

The entire Panthers team has taken a step back this season....DG, RR, Cam, EVERYONE.  To not discuss it, to not discuss Cam as being a PART of the problem is not being a fan of the team.

QB's and teams have up and down years...it's OK to praise during the good, and pile on during the bad...that's what this board is for.

I made a similar post after a poor newton showing this year.  my frustration  was his lack of effort in becoming a more efficient passer . he has an issue either holding the ball too long or throwing off his back foot. It's tough to watch as his QBR dipped into the 50s.

but after the skins game, it looks like he was throwing better and checking down quicker. So although I was pissed on what looks like a lost season, I have hope that newton can fix these simple issues and regain his MVP level of play...I will say that shula doens't seem to have a real effect on newton a nd should be gone soon...

    • Strange, every news article and tweet I just searched all mentioned waivers. It is definitely his sixth year of at least 6 games. All I was trying to think of earlier was at the vet min could he beat out Bryce in camp next year lol. He's kinda got the old Darnold issue where he can obviously launch deep balls and qb run at a level Bryce will never achieve, but it sounds like he would be content being like a Josh Allen backup who doesn't throw the whole game plan out the window if he has to come in for a series or two. If we had him and for some reason still wanted to start Bryce he would kinda do what Justin Fields was doing the other night with Dangeruss, coming in for designed runs and maybe some play action/triple option rpo things to go deep. That would be so obvious and sad though. At least Russ can still sling it 40 yards in the air with a flick of the wrist
    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
