Yeah great pick, he is just as impressive as Marshall was in his rookie season.

it just sucks that we got this guy so late and wasted our 2nd pick on Martin, we could have taken someone who could be starting in our weak DT situation, or even have gotten Smith ( Sean Smith, CD - Dolphins right? ) who would have made our secondary EXTREMLY talented.

WTF were they thinking??

He's the only consistent tackler in our backfield. He's the only one that stood face to face with the WR off the line. He's the one I see swarming to the ball. Yeah, he's had a few penalties but those are aggressive rookie mistakes. I'll take them because it's making him a better aggressive player. How can you not like him?

We have yet to really exploit his speed.

We have yet to really exploit his speed.

Think of this: how many times has he been the one to run down the RB trying to get to the corner making that open field tackle? You're right, his speed is outstanding. Now if ST could get their act together on punts, we'll gladly exploit it. :)

I'm a big fan.

I'm amazed that guy is really becoming a special player. Why did many teams pass on him? Even many should know a good player when they see one, but they pass on him. Oh well. Their loss is our gain. Go Captain!!

Because a lot of coaches turned their noses up at the "REAL USC" Defense. There were like, in the very least, 4 or 5 guys from that D that were expected to go pretty high in the draft. Captain was one of them. Brinkley (Casper's brother Jasper) who was amazing at USC was one. Maybe Stoney Woodson was one too I can't remember. This whole season so far has got my football mind kinda clouded.

The one thing I want him to improve on is his judgment when returning punts. It seems he waved for a couple of fair catches (at least last game) where he had at least ten yards of space in front of him.

Yeah that was very questionable. He had a pretty big cushion to go for it on that last game return/not return. He'll pick it up. He's got the right mentality going in. Only the future will tell though. It is high time we had even a semi-shutdown corner.

    • We could easily pick apart yesterday’s game: dropped passes, blown coverages, bad tackling and red zone issues to name a few. But it was clear that this wasn’t the same team from earlier in the season. They fought back and hung with the champs until the end. That’s what I was excited to see and it gives me hope that we’re on the right track.
    • I think BY played well today and exceeded expectations. I will temper future expectations as he has to string together many games of consistent quality. One game doesn’t convince me that he is a franchise QB or even a guy you want to stick with for another season. One game doesn’t erase all the negative play and limitations from the past couple of years. I hope he balls out and continues to get better but for me the verdict is still out   That said, I think he gave the team and fans hope yesterday which is a lot more than what we had when we woke up Sunday morning.
    • He was vastly improved today and we need to see more of Bryce the rest of the season to continue evaluate him in order to decide what the heck to do with him at the end of the season. He must play at least like this and improve more from here the rest of the season in order for me to keep him. No more 123 yard passing games and want to see at least this output weekly from him. If this is Bruce improving slowly over time then Canales is even better with developing QB's than I thought he was but still too early to tell and we need to see him the rest of the way as he has at very least earned back the starting gig moving forward.
