ESPN First Take: Cam Newton Better Long Term Than Matt Ryan

Maybe I am biased being a falcons fan, I don't know. But obviously to me Matt Ryan is way better. He has superior numbers in every remarkable QB statistic. He's also been more consistent during the season as the undisputed leader of the falcons since he wws drafted and been to the playoffs more. Overall he's had more winning seasons and a better winning percentage. Cam had an anomaly season last year. He's also had the benefit of Kelvin Benjamin who's a remarkable talent in his own right but he sucks at getting him the ball. His number #1 option is Greg Olson cause he's not very good at reading defenses or breaking a 60% completion rate (a measuring stick for good traditional QBs).

Cam Newton has had the benefit of playing with the luxury of a dominant defense that got him the ball back very often and covers up for his gay flamboyance on the field. I think the face of the panthers is really Luke Kuechly. For me Cam needs to be more consistent to be considered better, just like he is consistently gay.

Why tf is this turd here?

Marino had a terrible playoff record too, but no one will take drew beldsoe over him. I'm not a big fan of Cam's to be honest. I just don't think he's a good passer. Just a dominant athlete who can be great in a run first offense. However having a killer defense absolutely help. Defense still wins championships and MR2 would've won a superbowl with players like Luke Kuechly, Kawann Short, and Thomas Davis on defense.

Hey I've always liked Ryan. Always think he's been one of the more under appreciated players in the league. But Ryan is good because of his drive to be great, his insane work ethic, maturity, and leadership. Cam is just a ridiculous talent and athlete that no other QB in the league right now can come close to. However, Cam's worst enemy is himself, he's a child trapped in a mans body

It's the truth. The guy can't take pressure or hits, especially from our DL. You take Julio away, he's average.

Ryan's offense has put up 40 points the last 2 weeks without Julio. Ryan has also taken so many hits in the last 3 seasons with no running game and a poor O-line. (Not talking about this season). You clearly do not watch the Falcons. He's tough as nails and always gets up. Name the last time Ryan missed a game or was even on the injury report

To the OP,  anyone with a brain takes 27 year old Cam versus 30+ Matt Ryan. It's all about father time.

You can't compare them physically. Mentally,  Ryan looks good because of his successes while Cam looks bad with his failures. They are two different QBs in two different offenses. So really comparing the mental aspect is much harder than simply looking at stats.

I will absolutely agree that Cam tends to be his worst enemy. But he's still young enough to get past that and continue to work with those ridiculous physical talents. Ryan is maxed out.

I agree. Ryan is who he is. He's a very good player but he's no Manning or Brady and he never will be. He's Phillip Rivers spitting image and that's cool with me. The sky is the limit for Cam. He could be a unbelievable football player. He just needs to play smarter, stop taking so many dangerous hits for an extra yard, and grow up a little bit. Talent and potential is there no doubt about it

You guys have faced weak defenses. We hanged 40 on the Niners too. Great job!

You mention Ryan's toughness. I don't see it. Once he gets hit, you can pretty much count him out. He goes into the fetal position. Cam has missed more games but the refs don't have his safety in mind.

Toughness? Come on, it's easily Cam. Ryan wouldn't be alive with some of the uncalled shots Cam receives.

Dude your trippin. I get that your a panthers fan and hate the Falcons but this post just has so much homerism and bias in it. The refs are against cam? Ok...And you have zero proof to back up your statement that Ryan "gets in the fetal position" after one hit. He's taken lots of hit in his career. Take it from a guy who has watched every Falcons game for the last 8 years. Ryan is never on the injury reports, he hasn't missed a game since 2009. If you can consistently play in the NFL like that, you're a tough guy.

Also, where did I say that Ryan was tougher than Cam?

Lmaoooooo, not even with Matt Ryan possessing our defense he'd win a superbowl. He simply doesn't have it. He chokes once he gets hit. Ryan noodle arms his passes. He's lucky he has Julio Jones or he's be a nobody.

Yeah not like he never made a probowl without Julio or passed for +4000 yards. Not like he leads the NFL in deep passing as well. Take your panties off your face when watching the games they are clearly impeding your vision.

Newton is a RB playing Qb. He's going downhill as soon as he loses a step or plays with a bad defense.

He is also 1-4 in the playoffs and has less playoff wins than Mark Sanchez that = choke artist. =>

"Has better numbers in every QB statistic" "60% completion percentage" blah blah blah, whose won an MVP and taken his team to a super bowl in a lot less time than Matt Ryan. I think that means a lot more than completion percentage. Enjoy your one season at the top of the division, unless y'all fug it up to the Bucs, but we''ll be back next year don't worry.

We already addressed that. He'd win more playoff games with a top 10 defenss. Never had the luxury of that unlike feather duster shoes.

Excuses, excuses. Brees never had an elite defense.

Brees has a killer defense the year they won. Sharper lead the league in interceptions and they were top 10 in sacks I think. You're way off, like when Cam sees a wide open WR.
