Thing is. This OT is being said by most as the weakest OT class this decade.  Throwing a pick and reaching for a OT just because you need one doesnt do any good.  And outside of Fournette theres not a RB worth a pick that high especially considered when you can get one just as good in the 2nd or 3rd.

And lets not forget, our defense is still struggling.  You throw out Dallas but how quick are you to forget that this same Panthers team (only losses were due to injury this season).  They were #1 in offense  and was much much more powerful than what Dallas is producing now.  Meanwhile the defesne gave up Big leads last year causing close games at the end.  The defense is bad this year, drafting a playmaker on D wont be a bad thing at all.

Defense wins championships.  You can throw out the Dallas OL this or that, but by the #'s  we had one of the best Offenses historically  last year (theres a reason denver was the biggest underdog in superbowl history via vegas and everyone was giving them no chance)  and we still lost in the superbowl when we met a top Defense

I do not disagree there defense wins championships. However, relying on a broken running back, poor wide receiver play, and poor OT play is a recipe to stay stuck in the mud. Sure we had a great year on offense but that was because the league had not figured us out (Fire Shula) and Stewart had a great streak of staying healthy. When Stewart went down so did the strategy for our offense. We all know this team has heavily picked defensive players for the longest time. Need to start putting pieces around their former MVP.

Dallas invested heavily in their Oline with first round picks, but, they did not reach.  All of the guys were there for the taking and they pulled the trigger.  Think Jerry went back to his old days when he had Emmitt running the ball.  Huge Oline dominated.  It all starts in the trenches.  Makes RBs, WR's and QB's all look better

Team will probably ignore the offense again and struggle to move the ball. Just a guess here. Reason why Dak is succeeding in Dallas. He has a great O-Line, good receivers, and a great running back.

Yeah I think the best thing that can help this offense is getting someone from the outside. The coaches might have gotten too jaded in evaluating their players. My biggest disappointment this season was that Mike Shula had 6 months after the Superbowl then the whole season to counter the game plan teams have been using since the SB yet we struggled mightily. We were the most blitzed team in the NFL this year, teams caught on and we stayed the same

You can go Fournette but outside of him.  Going RB or OT in the 1st is just a massive reach just for a position of need,  thats when you get into the Everrette Brown and Fua situations.  We didnt have a top offense just becuase they hadnt figured us out, shulas been here for a few years.  People were already calling for his head around here going into last year.  OT play of course is going to take a hit when your playing a 4th string center and OG at RT.  This OL has been decimated by injuries this year (including Oher who was the top probowl alternate last year and was graded out on of the top OTs, oh yeah plus he was a former 1st rounder)

WR again this is the same group.  Philly has been nicked up some this year.  Only addition is KB and many have Pointed out that Cam has been focussing in on him.   Plus KB being lazy and not finishing routes.  That with the OL injuries its a mess.  If you think Dallas would be the same team with a 4th string center and OG starting RT, you must be sitting in a smoke shop in denver right now.

Building around the QB means a defense to.  Just ask Peyton, where Indy focussed on build O around him while Denver built a D around him.

Keep your perspective.

The same offense that led the league in scoring last year without KB, got him back and was expected to do even better.

The Oline falling apart was the biggest issue.  Having only Norwell play the season in his position was some terrible luck as far as injuries.  It is hard to throw the entire playbook at the Oline when they are in new positions each week

We have a defense though. Hey to each their own though. Enjoy the holiday season man. Hope everyone here had a merry Christmas and that they have a happy new year.

Problem with defense is that the front four is not collapsing the pocket and getting the QB off his spot. They are also spotting teams 5 yards every play by playing off. Thomas Davis no longer has the close down speed like he used to and it might be time to have Shaq be the starter. Also, awareness in zone coverage is lacking. I keep talking about two plays. The 3rd and 21 and Julio Jones 3rd down reception. The players are more interested in covering dirt than covering a receiver. Yes you have an area to cover but if no one is there do something else

Addison, CJ, and Horton are FA's and have major question marks at best for different reasons.  Ealy can hardly be counted on to carry the load and only has one year left on his deal.  Delaire makes me sick and must go.  A 20/21 year old Derek Barnett on a five year rookie deal PLEASE.

The fact that he's even so wishy washy about coming out after so many years in the program, struggled so much after switching from RT, and struggled so much with penalties as he is supposedly a high strung personality, are all major red flags as a first rounder.  Zero chance he's our top 10 pick.  Maybe if we trade back multiple times and/or use our 2nd round pick.  But if THAT'S GMan's answer to our OT problem then everyone better show up at BOA demanding Berry AND JPP.  I'd honestly feel MUCH better with Remmers out of the gate until he'd be ready, a scenario that I hate since we must come out guns blazing next year.

I can't speak to his personality, but did he really struggle that badly? Every scouting report I've seen indicates he played really well. Granted, I've only seen two N.D. games all year, but I've read some pretty good things about him.

My post was admittedly too harsh since I haven't watched all of his games.  Don't get me wrong, I'd gladly accept him as a member of the Carolina Panthers.  But there are certainly conflicting reports about how much he's struggled.  More than anything I was referring to our top 10 pick when such consistent performers like Barnett or generational talents like Fournette know without a shadow of a doubt where their bread is buttered (the next level) and are ready now.  There is no comparison.
