You gave Tolbert an extra TD

but it's not really embarrassing that Cam Newton has better numbers than a FB.  Cam Newton since he entered the league has better numbers than virtually all RBs that have played over that same window.

But the fact Tolbert has Tom Brady like rushing numbers is pretty bad.

  • 8 with 1st round pick
  • 1 with 2nd round pick
  • 2 with 3rd round pick (1 trade)

20 players have been noticed by the fans, coaches, and peers are the best in the NFL. More than 1 per season; 4 players short of 2 per season.

It also looks like producing Pro Bowl players from the first round should be easy given what Hurney has done for the Panthers. He hit on 8 of the 10 years he was allowed to draft and sign a 1st round pick. Also, it looks like using FA is just as important as rounds 2-6 from the draft.

The Panthers have been neglecting the use of FA and rounds 2-6 by trading many of those picks away. That would be about 60% of the talent pool each off season being wasted. Hurney produced 5 pro bowlers for the Panthers in his first 4 off seasons; 4 of those early Pro Bowl players were free agent signings.
