Vernon Butler was our highest graded defender last night

Like I stated before, when you look back at this year, Injuries will be the main reason that this season went the way it went. Yes, read that again. INJURIES will be the MAIN reason why this season went the way it did. Not the SOLE reason. Before someone takes this and twists it. I am fully aware of the lack of depth, talent in some positions and coaching that has been going on too.

I disagree with this part. You can only have so much depth. We're currently on 3rd and 4th string linemen and were on 4th and 5th string corners at one point. There's a reason they're that low on the depth chart.

Only real lack of depth I can think of would be RB and Safety, but Fozzy was adequate in Stewart's absence, just not a real bell cow.

That's lack of depth...due to injuries.. Kind of the point bro. You can only have so much depth of personnel that actually knows the scheme before you get to guys that were on their couch the week prior and have to come in and play for you. Gettleman can't be blamed for that.

Ah I gotchya, I thought you were implying that our 4th and 5th string dudes weren't up to snuff because Gettleman.

Hell if that happened to Hurney I wouldn't blame him, that's just crap luck.

Injuries on the OL hurt bad, but it's also worth noting that most fans thought the OT position was a position of obvious need and it's a key position Gettleman took his "the answer is on the roster" position on. It bit him in the ass big time this year.

The only thing that kept him away from multiple sacks was being held numerous times, I was yelling at the refs through my tv

We always have to beat the refs. It's a problem you face when your owner is a sheep.

The first six games destroys the whole "injury" excuse. Let's take a trip down memory lane.

1.) Broncos - Loss close game due to missed field goal/predictable game plan in the 2nd half.

2.) 49ers - We beat a bad team. Oher's season pretty much ends.

3.) Vikings - All facets of the team failed after being up 10-0 and giving up a safety & punt return TD before the half. Vikings defense took over in the 2nd half.

4.) Falcons - All on the secondary.  Biggest victim: Bene Benewikere

5.) Buccaneers - DA/Shula literally throws this game away.

6.) Saints - All on the secondary.  Biggest victim: Zack Sanchez

Injuries only would have affected the Bucs game...And that's on Cam for showboating and not keeping his head on a swivel.

The main reason this season went down is due to Gettleman's gamble which failed.

Nice!

I support Gettleman,  Rivera,  and Cam to varying degrees,  but that doesn't preclude me from being critical of them like it seemingly does for so many others.  In Gettleman's case,  he has picked up some good talent,  albeit at a cost---arguably an unnecessary cost,  but a cost still the same.  The pieces that he provides his coaches with are going to have to be a good mix of experienced,  seasoned, veteran depth and younger guys with palpable upside,  hopefully within each position group.  His work must begin early in the off-season,  and he can't afford to leave us ass-out at positions of weakness in April,  and certainly during and after the draft just because he can't contain himself over the next hog molly,  or because he gets some ill-advised bright idea based on money clinching. By the time the draft begins,  there should be few question marks,  and he shouldn't be in a position where he has to over think things or overcompensate for obvious weaknesses that should have been addressed in January and February.

Just my $0.02 as usual.
