NFL already responding to Newton hit (like always)

Couldnt agree more about not having enough of those guys.  Smitty wouldve already been ejected and took someone out with him by now defending Cam.  For all of the excuses people want to give to justify why we let him walk, he wouldnt have stood for someone cheap shotting his team.  For as horrible as Pickles was, Smitty went after Talib in Tampa for taking a head shot on Clausen.  But, according to most of the huddle, he was useless so...

And again, for as good as Bradberry is playing, and for as surprisingly well as Worley is coming along, neither of them can bring the total package interms of play AND physicality/dog mentality that Josh brought.  Again, the huddle will make excuses, but plug and play doesnt work.  You have to have a culture.  You get rid of all of your mentally tough, vocal guys who like to mix it up, and you get ho-hum, there's always tomorrow results.

I don't see our team like that at all.  TD and Luke are very aggressive as are most of our offensive linemen.  We're in the upper third in the league in unnecessary roughness and roughing the passer penalties.  We've had 11 of these calls go against us this year, but only 3 have gone our way, including a laughable 1 roughing the passer which was probably on DA.

We've always been a hard hitting physical team.  But everyone is in helmets and pads.  The threat of retaliation will not deter a defensive player for taking a cheap shot on Cam to get him out of the game.  Until the NFL starts suspending guys for cheap shots, this will continue.  A possible 15-yard penalty is a small price to pay to get Cam out of the game and the refs won't even give us the 15 yards.

we were talking about our offense and what opposing defenses encounter.

TD and Luke are defensive guys.

Defenders certainly believe they can push us around because the refs allow it.  That needs to stop.  But they also feel our team allows it....and we do.  Let's go all the way back to week 1 and the first dome shot on Cam.  Nothing happens.   Literally.  It continues.  One way to get refs to call a tighter game?  When risk of on-field chaos becomes an imminent reality. Refs don't fear that either.  I am a firm believer that if our offense took greater issue w/ the BS....it would force the refs into managing the shots because they then become worried about their game getting out of hand.  Which is the worst look a ref crew can get.

Our offense basically has taken the bullying all season.  It only one way to stop it.  Basic rules of life are largely universal.  We just go tell the teacher after the fact and they don't care outside of giving some standard jargon on the issue....then we go about thinking we ain't going to be picked on this time when we walk home from school.

With all the shots Cam has taken.  How many offensive players even give a reaction?  That alone speaks volumes about that side of the ball and why changes their are needed.   That actually is pretty unique in football.  All Cam's offensive teammates do is give a soundbite on the topic maybe postgame.  I've only see one of Cam's teammates really take a real cheap shot since he has been here.....and Cam literally went 50 yards downfield and was only behind LaFell as the 2nd player in the pile to aid 89.   Offense around Cam is soft and doesn't care.

all those shots should of been bigger issues in each of those games.  Players watch the headshots like they are sitting on the coach eating potato chips.   We should of made them bigger issues. They would have been viewed as even bigger issues than they were each time.

only issue with that defense is they are isolated incidents with other QBs that get corrected.  That is always the defense.  Show a missed call on another QB.   Of course refs miss calls on everyone.

There isn't a highlight reel of missed calls on any of those QBs all season long. The consistency is the issue with Cam.  Missing a call on Brady is irrelevant because as soon it is missed they over correct to make up for it....that game or even weeks after.

How did those "Isolated incidents with other QBs" get corrected? And what does that even mean? Man this whole bolded part is confusing as all get out. Are you actually saying refs go back and correct calls???? Correcting calls just doesn't happen.

You defend my have examples of plenty of OTHER QBs get head shots, and no calls, by saying, *they are isolated hits on other QBs, that get corrected, That is always the defense.* What? What does this even mean? Almost a dozen head shots is not an isolated incident. None got corrected, and that is the defense? It is the defense of what?

I showed an example of plenty of OTHER QBs taking head shots, and you answer with *Show a missed call, of course refs miss calls.* Of course refs miss calls. You are both agreeing with me, and contradicting me. You have a unique way of debating.

The reason there isn't a highlight reel of missed calls? Is because no on has made one. But if Dilfer can come up with a dozen or so, for just a quick segment. I am sure there are plenty more examples of every QB getting hit, and some of the Golden Boys getting calls the other QBs don't get. This is not exclusively a Cam issue. It is a league wide issue.

Refs for some odd reason are just not calling all these head shots equitably. You have to see where some QBs are getting calls that other QBs do not get?

I mean come on. You actually believe I am going to agree with them "Fixing a missed call, even weeks later"?????

Sometimes I cannot help be see your naiveté and wonder just how old are you? Sometimes I really do wonder where you get some of the things you say. Not that there is anything wrong with that. I just find it intriguing.

tl/dr version; Cam is not the only QB that is not getting calls. It is not just a Cam issue. The fans are seeing it. And the Media is picking up on it. The rules used to be cut and dried. You knew when a hit on a QB was worth a flag. Nowadays? Who knows what is worth a flag, and what isn't?

Just like, what is a catch? It has now gotten to, what is illegal contact on a QB?

Sorry for the rant. Obviously, this issue is near and dear to my heart.

Agree with this. Also poster above mentioned the O-line being aggressive, definitely need that too. Next season, come with a new attitude. Let teams know early, we aren't taking these hits lightly.

Lots of criticism can be made on Remmers but, when Atlanta dude took the shot at Cam's head that Coach Ron wishes he could have taken, Remmer's gave that dude a little "extra" in return.

Yesterday on NFL Live Dilbert showed a clip of about a dozen QBs getting hit and no flags being thrown. As much as us Panther fans want to scream conspiracy, it really is a league wide epidemic.

Except that what he was showing was a lot of one-off's on different QBs strung together, not repeated shots at the same guy.

DIFFERENCE.

He was showing QBs getting head shots, with no flags being thrown. How is that DIFFERENT? Because folks think Cam has been unfairly targeted? Not sure that it is true that Cam is the only one. Tannyhill is out for the season, for the same type of low hit, by the same player, that Cam was. And both were fined, but not flagged.

He even showed Cousins sliding and getting his head elbowed into the turf. No flag.

As much as the Huddle does not want to admit it. This is a league wide problem. Not just a Cam problem.

I would be willing to bet, that unless some industrial individual compiles a video of every QB hit that wasn't called. Few Huddlerz would admit that this is only apropos to Cam.

Well, I pointed that out to you in my reply, but you chose to ignore it.

What is shown are one-off's (i.e. individual) occurrences on multiple QBs.

What is happening to Cam is happening over and over and over.

Now, you want to convince me?  Cut me a vid of Cousins receiving multiple uncalled head shots over the same year.

Same with any other QB.

I'll wait right here.

I do not understand why so many Huddlers are so unwilling to even entertain the idea that this is a league wide problem? Not just a Cam Newton problem.

You have to know that if the media is picking up on it. It is much wider spread than just for Cam. And the media is picking up on this.

Yes.  Yes, it is.

Its a Cam Newton problem IN DEGREE.

I do not understand why iamhubby is so unwilling to even entertain the idea of that.

He did. He gave him a Diamond Dallas Page leg drop move. Trai and Kelvin were up in the refs faces but Mike gave that player a leg to the head. I like that. He has heart LOL

What makes you think I am unwilling to accept your stance?

Just because I am cognizant of a larger problem, and am trying to introduce a new mind set to the equation? That precisely because of what is happening to Cam, folks are more aware of how QBs are being treated. That it is becoming a league wide problem. That now that the Media has its claws into it, maybe something will eventually be done.

But because you see only one side, you are minimalizing my stance. Panther fans see what Cam has endured, and they expect everyone else to fall in line. Cam is being beat up, and no one seems to care. I get it. I am with you.

I am a Panther fan, I have seen what Cam has gone through. I also see that a lot of other QBs have been beaten up, and unless something is done. A position that is already tough to fill, is going to get thinner in talent.

Head shots are a league wide problem. Because Cam seems to have a much large sample size, it should not minimalize the larger problem. The refs don't know what to call, so they don't call anything. You aren't wrong, if you don't make a call.

Lastly, it used to be everyone knew what was a penalty, and what wasn't. It was pretty black and white. Nowadays, things are no where near as clear cut. I call it the Cam effect. Refs are not used to what he can do. They are learning on the job so to speak.

Yes, to us Panther fans, it does appear that Cam has taken more hits than any other QB. But until someone actually does the research, and I don't see that happening, we will never know how many QBs are not getting calls they deserve.

There are actually Panthers fans here defending the refs in the wake of these missed calls on headshots directed at our franchise QB?

Pitiful.

Also, lol at citing Trent Dilfer.

Aren't you so sweet to oh so snidely, and passive aggressively, elude to me.

If you can find one instance to back your inane accusations. Have at it. I am sure you would not say something about me, without having some sort of proof? Or do you just throw your condescension around all willy nilly?

Because I am trying to interject a new train of thought, I get this from you? Cool. I did not realize I had to actually bow down, to talk about Cam? Well dang. I had better go back and read that Huddle Handbook then shant I.

Ah hellz, how will I ever live this down? The shame.

You are so focused on Cam, that you will refuse to look at any counter point.

Oh no, if I don't say Cam is the most targeted QB in the league, I may be taunted a second time. How dare I even suggest other QBs are being beat to heck. It is all about Cam.

All this, because I am a stubborn old man who refuses to simply say. Hey NFL, you fuging killing our franchise QB over here.!!!! Better?

If anyone is watching the Eagles Giants game and saw the roughing the passer call they should be pissed about Cam's no call. I'm pissed and the announcers actually referred to Cam's no call and the flag on Cam. Eli Apple tried as best he could to stop himself and literally put his hand on Wentz again trying to stop himself. Flag gets called.

Ron Rivera should be screaming about that poo and how Cam actually gets hit to the head and nothing is called.

fug the NFL and their POS refs. I'll support my team but until they stop making excuses for the refs and their blatantly disregard for Cam's safety. I'm white as a lily and even I am starting to think that their is some serious racism going on here.

Pretty certain the Giants weren't happy with that call either.
