Cam's worst statistical year. Why?

Well to each their own. Cam Newton will never be perfect but he was the MVP last season. There are some people who believe Shula is a good play caller. I just keep bringing up the fact RUN RUN DEEP PASS.

I see this all the time when folks bash Shula. Run, run, pass, punt. And I am just not sure how that works out? I mean, we run the ball slightly more than we pass. Which, if my math is right, means for every 2 runs, we throw 2 passes. So run, run, pass would seem to be a mathematical impossibility.

So don't let math, or facts, get in the way of a good rant.

Points allowed to opponents by half time by the defense, Lack of takeaways in the 1st half, and KB has been ineffective at replacing Cotchery's consistency.

Cam could go to Cotchery or Olsen for consistency in 2015. In 2016, Cam has 2 inconsistent 2nd year receivers outside of Olsen.

The inexperience at WR and DB is killing the Panther's potential.

If the decline in catch % was noticeable across the board with every receiver, I would link it to Newton. What stands out is KB and Funchess lacking consistency. Cam Newton needs at least 1 WR he can count on outside of Olsen. KB, Funchess, Ginn, and Brown are just not getting the job done when it comes to dependability. He lost that when the front office allowed Cotchery to leave without a viable replacement.

First. Let's set the record straight. Out of the 14 guys at DB, and WR. You are placing all the blame on 3? Because out of all those guys. Only Bradberry, Worley, and Funch have less than 3 years experience.

And are you really blaming the 3 guys who rarely get 3rd down targets, for our 3rd down conversion rate being down? What about play calling, or drops, or being behind the chains for 3rd and longs?

I know this year has been frustrating. But you don't have to reach that far to place some blame.

It's called situational football. Unless we are forced to pass due to being down, we more than likely to follow the run run deep pass game plan which is garbage

What's funny is these clowns think they are unique.

Newslash:  About 25 fanbases in the league hate their offensive coordinator.  Look at other fan boards.  Seattle fans hate Bevell, Broncos fans hate their OC, hell until this year Falcons fans were trying to run Shanny out of town.

Either the position is terrible across the majority of the league or maybe message board fanboy reactionaries are wrong...

But that isn't true. We do pass on 1st down quite a bit. Why do folks refuse to see that? Does no one remember the streak we had last year where we rarely had 3rd downs?

And we still do 1st down passes this year. We just aren't hitting them like we were last year. I know it really isn't that big of a deal to some. But to me, it is one of our main problems. Miss on a 1st down pass, and you are behind the chains big time, and we seem to be missing a lot of them this year. Maybe that is why we have slowed down on them.

Yes, situational football plays a part, after all, teams tend to try and run the clock when they have a lead. And not just us either.

Basing on the numbers.

From 1st to worst at defending the short left and short right passing. Also, a significant decline in defending the outside runs and giving up 1st downs on those runs.

You can break down quarter and downs for passing and see the decline is clearly on the loss of Cotchery. No one has replace his consistency. The other obvious difference is the increased targets moving from Olsen to KB and KB well below 50% catching in several of those situations.

Going from experience to inexperience at those areas are what hurt the Panthers. That is on the front office for putting the team in that spot. No options outside of the inexperience at WR and CB.

Well, to be fair. Nothing happens when a fan is wrong. So decisions can be made emotionally with no repercussions. And let's face it. That is the basic mind set of the majority of fans.

NFL Personnel must take emotion out of the equation. Whereas, take the emotion out of the fan? You don't have a fan. you have an observer.

Show me the chart break down cause I'm almost positive we run on first more than almost any team in the league. Opposing players have said we run a predictable offense

CBs are not asked to make tackles behind the line of scrimmage. They are for run SUPPORT. Which is why CBs don't lead the team in tackles. Expecting CBs to stop every 1st down run is a bit over the top.

Again, you can blame inexperience all you want. It just not make it true. Ginn Jr. is a vet, Bersin is a vet, Brown, and KB are in their 3rd year, the only WR with less than 3 years experience is Funch.

You can't blame players for not getting 1st downs if they are not being targeted. It is the lack of targets outside of KB, and Olsen, not inexperience that is the problem.

There are far more reasons for our lack of 3rd down conversions. Inexperience is no where near the top.

Now don't take this the wrong way but...I skipped this part. I tend to have a hard time with folks throwing out numbers like this to make a point. Too many folks just say what comes to them, and really have no idea what the real numbers may be.

We, for the most part, play Zone. Our CBs are not asked to play press coverage. Although, as the season has progressed they have been gradually sneaking up on that line of scrimmage. With that type of Defense, you can expect those type of passes to be completed.

We play that way to force teams to move methodically down the field. The longer it takes a team to move down the field, the better chance they will get antsy, and make a mistake. That is how we get our Turn Overs. That is why we are a bend but don't break Defense. Prevent the big plays is boring to fans, but Coaches make their living by it.

It is how we play Defense at this time. Complaining about the results is pointless, and only shows that complaining is more important than what is actually happening.

Run Run Pass.............And by pass I mean 15 yards down the field while the other team blitzes. Guy got fired at Alabama. I rest my case.

I have neither the know how, nor the inclination to figure out how to find those stats. I am going off memory, hence why I didn't quote any stats in the first place.

I guess you are one of those who just never happen to see a 1st down pass. Nothing wrong with that. So I am not going to beat my head against the wall trying to convince you. I will say, try and watch these last few games. Or go back and watch some of the past games. You will see plenty of 1st down passes. Just trust your eyes, that's all I ask.

I think it was the second ain't game last year. We only had 2-3 3rd downs the entire game. Precisely because we were being successful on those 1st down slants, and outs. Setting us up with lots of 2nd and shorts.

As to that Offense. It has been both praised for its versatility, and ridiculed for its predictability. So I guess it depends on what you see, and who you believe. Now, IMO, this year is a mess, so it is really difficult to evaluate. But for a while there, folks hated having to game plan for us. Mostly because we do so many things, out of so many formations.

Most teams use a set number of plays out of each formation. We, on the other hand, will run almost any play, out of almost any formation. It is almost like our well oiled machine need an oil change.
