The beauty of Belichick is not that he always acquires HOFers, is that he takes a flyer on a player after mulling around ideas as to whether or not thar player can help his bottom line, which is to win a championship that season. It's a success sometimes (as in the case of LaFell), but it's never really a failure, as he jettisons said player with little if any repercussions as he sees fit. He is a master builder and puzzle solver, and to me, who the player is, or how long they're there doesn't detract from his genius. Indeed, it enhances it.

Just my $0.02.

That's all I'm saying!!!

You don't win that much more then everyone else by being bad at personnel.  I would guess their win percentage for the last 10 years is a good bit more then the second team.  He might not draft the Julio Jones and Todd Gurleys of the world but how often does he actually pick early in the first round.

Also he is known to churn the bottom of his roster more then most teams.  Does that mean he is bad at evaluating talent?  Or is he just constantly looking to improve his team?

I think it's part genuine talent evaluation but also throwing tons of dart at the dartboard. Sometimes, I think that's why they amass so many draft picks.

you do realize:

1. we already do this. why just this year we brought in brandon boykin, michael griffin, ras-i-dowling, and leonard johnson. we also did this with stephen hill a few years back. so i think it can be demonstrated that we already do this.

2. the pats claimed him off waivers. that's not an ample window of time. if i'm correct in assuming our 5-8 record affords us a higher waiver pick than new england, it would cost us a lot more in the cap to bring him in off waivers than it would if say for example he made it to FA.

3. michael floyd was cut not only because he was underperforming, but also because he was arrested for a DUI the other day. now i dunno if you remember dwayne jarrett or josh gordon or justin blackmon, but, usually, guys going through substance abuse problems or getting nabbed with a DWI in the regular season or during training camp don't exactly trend upward on the stat sheet.

I have offered help to a couple of my employees that have ended up fighting alcohol addiction. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. With only 3 games left on his contract I can't see where the cap would really come into play.

Arizona has been underwhelming this year so I don't really put a whole lot of stock in that. He's shown flashes of ability that IMO would be worth the risk. It's a gamble, but I really don't see the downside if it fails.

The thing I'm not sure of is if a player claimed this late in the season is required to go onto the 53 man roster. I looked but didn't find a definitive answer. If that's the case, I can understand why we passed on him.

Let's just say BB and the Pats are much better at putting a good team together year after year regardless of injuries than the Panthers are. It's been that way for a long time. We all hate the Pats, but you gotta respect how they continue to win year after year after year. We all wish this franchise could figure it out.
