His biggest contribution to this team was trading for Greg Olsen and raping the bears with a 3rd round pick. Also his first round picks were always good. Unfortunately the rest of his tenure is riddled with bad contracts and over reaching for need. Also the whole Armanti Edwards experiment...That alone should have fired him.

You kidding me? You lost me at "no way we weren't going to pick QB". Hurney drafted Jimmy Goldenboy Clausen in the 2nd rd the year before. Plenty of reasons why many thought we might not be drafting a QB. Some thought Von Miller, Dareus, Green or PP7 could be the pick too. 

Hurney had enough balls to say he liked Cam more than Clausen. 

Hurney did not draft a raw Cam bc he like the "wildcat". Lol

If you compare Carolina's drafting from 2002-2013 vs the draft results of the other 31 teams. Carolina wasn't bad.  

Hurney had legit faults.  His overall drafting ranks pretty good vs the league.  People discredit Hurney's great first round success and ignore he fact most teams have whiffed on several of them in that window.

Sure, if you can list how many other players from the drafts where we took Cam Newton and Luke Kuechly are still playing for the Panthers, or still playing in the NFL for that matter.

It's easier to hit on first round picks when you're picking high because the team you put together the previous year was terrible.

What awful drafts to only come away with one generational talent in consecutive years! Oh, the humanity!

Why, in My America, I'd rather have a Bradberry, Worley and a Butler over just one lousy Newton any day!

Hurney was an A+ drafter...in the 1st round. He was an F drafter outside of that. So I guess that averages out to a C.

Well, from Luke's draft..

we acquired the best MLB in football

we acquired what is now the highest paid CB in the NFL. 

Those 2 picks alone probably make the Panthers 2014 draft a top 5 draft for that year....if not higher. 

Norman set some punting records here and now is still playing. 

That leaves 3 guys.  Amini and Alexander aren't officially done.  Amini was with the Bears this season and Frank wasn't a talent bust but a personal life bust.  Then CJ was a 7th rounder and those are basically comparable to underdrafted guys. 

Name a random team and I can find a much worse draft than Luke's in that window

An "A+ Drafter" should be able to come up with more than one good player out of a draft.

Hurney had entire drafts that were pretty much whiffs.
