Ex-GM Hurney: I'd sit Luke Kuechly

Did drafted Cam and Luke, esp when a lot of draft experts had Gabbert, Locker, Coples, Brockers, Ingram, etc.

Experts aren't experts at all. Also Cam was a raw talent and we needed a QB. Consensus back then was Luck but he went back to school. We were going to pick QB. There was no way we didn't pick Cam since this team loves the wild cat and loves to run the ball. The writing was on the wall on that one. Luke fell on his lap so I wouldn't give him soo much credit.

His biggest contribution to this team was trading for Greg Olsen and raping the bears with a 3rd round pick. Also his first round picks were always good. Unfortunately the rest of his tenure is riddled with bad contracts and over reaching for need. Also the whole Armanti Edwards experiment...That alone should have fired him.

Honestly I'd take Boston and Klein over Anderson and Martin any day of any week on any planet.  Both were lower picks too

Boston is Martin

Klein could end up better than Anderson but right now, Anderson at a similar age was a bit better. As it is, it's hardly a no-brainer one way or the other

I'll go lower than second round. How about third?

Charles Johnson, James Anderson, Will Witherspoon, Travelle Wharton

Ok CJ was a star for 2-3 years and still a solid player, Anderson was a JAG, Will was a good player for a long time but left before he did much here(huge mistake, should've let Morgan go), Wharton was good for a span there but never more than above average and often injured.  10 years..

So what about all the 2nd round picks?   GMan got Short, Funch, and Bradberry in 3 years.  I see Kalil which was a higher pick than all 3 of them..  Ok what about the other 9 years bro?

I never said he hit on everything, but he landed big-time players far more frequently than most GMs and I backed it up. Hell in the sixth he got Hardy and Norman. People gonna tell me Norman was the obvious pick in the sixth now too?

No he's not.  Martin was soft as hell and only started bc Marty drafted him in the 2nd.  He was really really really bad.  No surprise he's out of the league with the GM who drafted him.  That should tell you what kind of GM he was even if you're in denial. 31 teams said fug him

That's not true at all. Luke was far from the obvious pick. Most on here as well as numerous mocks had someone like Fletcher Cox. A lot of Huddlers were mad as hell that Luke was the pick. So if he fell in his lap, wouldn't people on here be thankful, rather than pissed Hurney wasted another pick on some LB?

Norman was a 5th round pick from a small school.  Good job Hurney, loved that pick

Hardy was good for 2 years but I wouldn't be tooting on that one. He's not helping us now is he?  All he did is cost this team money.  Again, How about naming another 4th or 5th round pick from that 10 year span.  Even 1 or 2?   I sure can't

This I have to give Hurney due credit.  I didn't like the pick at the time but he proved me wrong by week 6.  Let's not act like this was some Tom Brady type pick because the next guy was about to get him.  thank god he did fall in our lap because I wanted Barron and still think that might have been the pick.

People without vision and more than likey recollection of what was going on. Beason was coming back from an Achillies injury. Luke was a once in a lifetime talent at his position. Rivera was coming in and he more than likely wanted his own guy. Luke was high on everyones draft board. That's like the same situation as the Packers with brett favre and Aaron Rodgers. You had a great QB and A-rod fell to your lap. You'd be stupid to not take him. This was mostly draft board and I'm sure Hurney had him really high on his draft board. So point stands. He fell to his lap and he had to pull the trigger.

Bradberry and Worley start because they have no choice but to start. They had UFL competition in camp because our best corner (who Gettleman, wait, Hurney picked) was let go

We are discounting the Jeff Kings and Richard Marshalls but propping up the Tre Bostons and Daryl Williamses

The Huddle is Huddling hard

Difference is Marshall had years in the system with Gamble there to mentor him and still sucked.  King was a good blocker and thats it.  How many good tackles did Hurney draft?  Otah was a first we traded big assets for and never played a full season was out after 3.  BUST   Not only that but Hurney couldn't draft guards, we had the worst interior line in the league anchored by Byron Bell.  Its nice to see a tackle thats on the field even if he's not good in his 2nd year

Martin had a tiny window where he balled out.  It only lasted a couple games but given that it makes him better than Boston has been.  Martin was a bad S just like Boston.  Boston is a bad version of Godfrey and a good version of Godfrey was just a little better than Martin.

Martin played in the NFL from 2009-2015.  That means he put in a longer career and collected checks longer than the average player.

It sucks we only had Mitchell for 1 year.  If we somehow landed Eric Berry or Adams/Peppers I would be stoked

So if you sit an otherwise healthy Luke, what does that say to the rest of the team for these next few games?

You can't give Luke or anyone else on the team this kind of special treatment if you expect them to be leaders.

well, I guess we will find out how full of bologna Ron is.  He treats them all the same per #tiegate.
