Hurney had some great FA signing that were big factors in us getting to both NFCCGs. 

There did appear to be a major shift in his career of the breaks being put on that.

Delhomme, Davis, Prohel, Wahle, Lucas, etc.  Key FAs in those 2 NGCCG runs.  Then Carolina quit signing FAs of note (which always seemed like a JR thing)

2008.  Barnidge wasn't a starter but falls under the Mathis category.  Dude is legit. 

2010. I'd add LaFell.  He is a decent player.  Teams are build by landing guys in the draft of his caliber.  Solid role player

If you want to just say non round 1 starters, here's what we've had in 4 DG drafts based on NFL.com more than 10 starts:

2013: Short, Klein
2014: Ealy, Turner, Boston
2015: Funchess, Williams
2016: Bradberry, Worley

So even though half this list has played less than two years that is 9 guys in four years that are 10+ game starters outside of the first round. Also, the highest draft slot in those 4 years is 14th. 6 of 11 of Hurney's drafts had picks from #1 through #14. The lowest Hurney ever picked was 28. 2 of 4 of Gettleman's drafts were 28 or lower.

When have Klein and Williams started most of a season? Boston is pure ass. Williams started due to injury and didn't totally suck.

Becomes a skewed list given how short their careers are to date. You going to add guys like Boston to that list and then you have to go back and start adding the guys like Colin Branch to Hurney's.  Boston isn't more than a Branch was

We are discounting the Jeff Kings and Richard Marshalls but propping up the Tre Bostons and Daryl Williamses

You start talking Tre Boston then we going to have start putting THE Sherrod Martin back in play too.  Martin was horrible but at least he had a window on good play that fooled you for a minute.

Martin sucked too, I'm not denying that, but people are using Tre Boston starting and Klein/Williams starting due to injury as proof that Gettleman, whose best pick is Kawann Short, is better at drafting than the guy who picked Cam Newton and Luke Kuechly

Not really.  What my point was is that they wouldn't have started for successful teams.  THey only started out of necessity because we suck at getting talent.  Has there been ANYONE other than Barnidge or Mathis that ever had success after they left?  Even for the Browns?  No

 

The players I listed are what are consider "starters" because they would get paid somewhere else with a GM not named Hurney

But that's not what you said. You're moving the goalposts again. You said "ever started." I included guys who started by performance, not out of injury necessity like a lot of Gettleman picks.

Honestly I'd take Boston and Klein over Anderson and Martin any day of any week on any planet.  Both were lower picks too
