If other teams wanted Olsen that bad they would have offered Chicago more. Carolina obviously made the best offer, this isn't really debatable.

He deserves some credit. I stated that wrong. it's just easy to be the one taking advantage of another teams stupid decisions.

We can play it all day? You pretty much threw out the only good things he did in his last few years here

those don't qualify as just good things.  Those were all 3 grand slams in a small window.

Hurney was very bad at contracts.  Hurney however now regarded around here as a bumbling idiot in all aspects of his job.  Which just isn't the case.

realistically Hurney might of acquired us 3 HOFers in that small window.

Yeah he was pretty bad most of the time.  He had a few moments (olsen, chris harris) but he ran this team into the ground. Thats why we got Cam and Luke.  Not bc his high skill level as a gm haha.  Cam was the #1 pick no matter what, anything else was a smoke screen.  He would have been the pick on trade value alone.  Buffalo wanted him bad at #4

Gettleman's two mouthpieces hopped to it to quash any threat of Hurney receiving credit

A very 2016 Huddle maneuver

Hope you're not talking about me.  Idgaf about Gman I'm ready to re-up on GM tbh.  He would have to do some pretty crazy poo this offseason to get me back on his side.  No one will ever change my opinion on Hurney, I thought the same thing about him since 2006.  Never should have been GM, was never qualified.

Again, it's like a political argument

"Hurney drafted Cam, Luke and traded for Olsen. He also drafted Josh Norman"

"YEAH BUT HE TRADED 4 EVERTT BRWON HAHA LOOSER"

It was his FA and contract moves that irked me the most.  Was a piss poor negotiator and way too lax and friendly.  This is a business.  He also sucked on almost every draft pick past #40.  JNo, Munnerlyn, Hardy, and CJ are all that comes to mind after 10 drafts.  Very high bust rate

I'm not talking about you. It's fairly obvious who the two people are with Gettlemagic™ kneepads

That said, it's funny to me that I'm left defending Hurney on things that he shouldn't be attacked for in the first place. Hurney was an A+ drafter. EVERY GM IN THE LEAGUE fugS UP OVER A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. It's fact, and while I know facts are far from en vogue now, it remains fact. Hurney hit damn grand slams on many occasions. Whoever would like to try and dispute that can put their laptop or phone in the oven instead

Getting past drafting, Hurney's fatal flaw was that he grew so attached to players that he made decisions that would seem absurd (not extending Jake once he was on his last legs).

Gettleman slurpers fail to realize that Gettleman is the anti-Hurney. The mafia movie buffs in here see Gettleman as a sort of Vito Corleone in a football office, but the reality is that when one extreme is incorrect, the other extreme is often incorrect as well. Such was the case with Josh Norman - a move that bestowed considerable derision upon the franchise

That draft was like the worst in the last 20 years.   The media didn't want Cam going to small market dumbass Carolina and it was obvious.  He was going to be the pick no matter what, even Hurney couldn't fug that up.
