Moose had a more complete skill set IMO and could threaten a team in more ways.  He wasn't awesome in all those ways but definately functioned in a wide variety of ways.

KB has a great niche.  That's actually okay.  But isn't diverse and doesn't appear to have a skill set to be an overall well rounded WR at this level

I agree with your current assessment of him at this point in his career. Give the guy another season, and an off season where he can train, uninjured, for speed and route running, and we may be pleasantly surprised.

I disagree. He has the skillset, he is just being a sandbagging dumbass.

well, I would argue effort is part of a skill set.

In his career, how many vertical passes down the sideline has he caught? I'm not talking about a back shoulder.  Everything has to be a crossing route, in, out, slant or post that gives him time to get open to body people for Cam to throw in a heater.

He has very little YAC ability and poses almost no threat in the short game because defenders will immediately be on top of him.

KB can be a great player in an offense playing a specific role in a WR corp.  End of the day that is what matters.  I just don't see him being a great overall threat.  He hasn't shown the diverse potential.

@iamhubby1, I generally agree with your sentiment, and that's why I finished off your pie. The only "issue" I have with it, is that it has a decidedly positive slant which almost---almost---makes you sound like an apologist. I really do believe this team can and will improve, but I see this season as a wake-up call. We are at a crossroads, and can still go two ways. Do I think Dave, Ron and company will take us down the path to prosperity? Yes I do! But, beginning with Dave and the offseason, they are going to have to really step up and show it.

well he does deserve time given the type injury.  Generally take a year for guys to work back into real health.

If I had a time machine and was a coach?  I would have attempted to see if I could of featured more sets w/ Fun, Gin and Brown on the field this season.  Not a huge fan of Corey Brown but Philly at times is almost a decent all around WR.  Our offense needs a guy Cam can dump a quick slant or bubble to and make yards.  Most offenses live off that and we have almost non of it.

I agree, and Philly has a decent skill set, but Cam has a hard time hitting intermediate to short range targets and also has a hard time hitting small receivers. Using Philly in that role right now would pretty much erase him from the game. If Cam can work on that short game (both kinds of short in this case) then it could be a very profitable match up.

The team doesn't have a shortage of good receivers and it doesn't have a QB with major problems. We've had a rough year for a myriad number of reasons, but personnel and play calling really aren't that bad. We have Benjamin, Ginn, Funchess and Brown as receivers who could be play makers on any NFL team. And we have Olsen setting receiving records for a tight end. Even Dickson can be a very reliable target. And Cam has a live arm and still has room to grow. We're a lot more blessed than we like to think.

We just happen to be having a down year that seems a lot worse because we are comparing it to last year's improbable and nearly legendary run.

We may play out well this December. Something tells me that next season, we will not just be back in contention, but be better than we can hope to imagine right now.

We currently have the 30th ranked passing defense. Damn those rookies are good

Because there's no better way to tell how good players are at this moment than checking stats and rankings that have been measured over an entire season, right?

Unless of course there was some way that you could actually watch them in recent games and judge how they were performing right now as opposed to, say, their first game as a rookie.

If only that were possible...

Who gives a fug if they're playing better now that we're out of contention and just FYI we've been falling in that category not rising.

    • First of all Sooners fan? Mods? Second if you think someone needs a specific reason to hate Texas you don’t watch real college football.
    • 100% even if rest of team is really talented if they march young out to be qb and he plays like he has for 90% of his starts the panthers have already lost doesnt even matter how good the rest of the team is or isnt and also makes it hard to even tell how good they are.  They need true competition for young this offseason.
    • It will be awesome to have an improved stadium to lose in I guess....   https://www.yahoo.com/news/panthers-file-rezoning-bank-america-111500840.html     The Carolina Panthers have taken another necessary step toward renovating their home of the present and future. Panthers Stadium, LLC, filed its rezoning site plan with the city of Charlotte on Monday, initiating an important — if mostly technical — step toward renovating Bank of America Stadium. The filings state that the rezoning relates “primarily to technical aspects associated with improvements to Bank of America Stadium,” and that the rezoning is required because “the current stadium zoning is out of date” for the team’s stadium renovation plans.   The planned stadium updates include new seats installed throughout the upper and lower bowls; stadium safety and security enhancements; a reimagined South Lawn Pavilion; upgraded restrooms; exterior enhancements (including LED video boards) and more. Planning for the stadium renovation project will continue through 2025, with construction starting in 2026 and the renovation’s conclusion in 2029, The Observer previously reported.
