How in the Hell does this make sense? The Carolina Panthers are the League leaders in total sacks.

It does not matter how a drive starts for a defense. They must keep an offense out of the end zone whether it is a punt or a turnover. You can give the defense a pass for allowing a FG when the drive starts on their side of the field.

The defense must come up with takeaways of their own to at least match that of the offense. If the offense is turning the ball over less than 2 times a game, the defense should be able to easily match that with their takeaways.

It makes no sense to complain about the turnovers of an offense unless they break 30 turnovers in a season. You can think of 30 turnovers/takeaways as the mid line. You want the offense to be under it and the defense to be over it. The wider the margin the better. 25 turnovers and 35 takeaways is good. If you can get the offense around 20 turnovers and the defense around 40 takeaways, then you are likely dominating in the season.

In 22 seasons of Panthers football, The Panthers offense is on pace to rank 11th for fewest turnovers - currently 7th. The Panthers defense is on pace to rank 15th in takeaways - currently last (22nd). That gives us some perspective. Expecting 16 or fewer turnovers by an offense is extremely rare. The Panthers lowest amount of  turnovers in a season was 19 (2008/2013/2015).

30 is the mid line?  really?

2014 - 5 teams had 30 or more giveaways

2014 - 3 teams had 30 or more takeaways

2015 - 7 teams had 30 or more giveaways

2015 - 4 teams had 30 or more takeaways

2016 - 1 team has 30 or more giveaways

2016 - 0 teams have 30 more more takeaways

FYI: You're talking to someone who regularly just makes s--t up.

Don't count on anything he posts being correct.  If you take the time to verify it, you'll find most of it is garbage.

When the offense looks good, the defense looks bad. When the defense looks bad, the offense looks good

lol these are the same points

But point taken, it's the same thing I've said for a while. If the defense holds a team to 13, we'll throw a pick six, lose a fumble, run for 28 yards and lose 21-10. Or if we throw for 275 yards and two TD, the defense won't allow but one punt all day and we lose 35-31. So on and so forth.

Yesterday had the potential to be our first "complete" game since the SF win in Week 2. The offense did a great job in the first half but as we've come to expect, barely existed in the second half

Personally I'm glad we won and we finally outscored a team in the fourth quarter (2-0)

Also 2nd in interceptions and 4th in forced fumbles.

Almost makes you wonder if constant 2nd half defensive collapses and an utterly and totally predictable, boring offense might have something to do with coaching and play calling, doesn't it?

It's fairly obvious how we get so many picks

We build up a huge three- or four-touchdown lead in the first half and the other team abandons the run, throws for four TDs and two INTs in the second half and kicks a winning FG on a short field

Yep. Our DBs and LBs are getting the pressures and sacks.

I thought so to, but after looking at the numbers, not so much.  Our defensive linemen have the majority of the sacks.  Roughly 26 of the 39 sacks.  The leading non dlineman irt sacks is Davis with 2.5. Fwiw, sack numbers have gone up considerably since the bye week, probably at least partially because the coverage has improved.

The question is, does this still make DE a primary need going into the offseason?

For me personally I still think it's a big time need going forward. We can't depend on Addison having another career year. Plus CJ will be a year older.

Yes. Along with LT, RB , SS
