Am I the only one who thinks an 8-8 finish should cost Rivera his job?

You could also make the case that he brought a team that lost major contributors along as the season played out.

If anyone needs to be gone it's Shula. His schemes are tired and predictable. Cam massively regressed this year and it's not solely on Shula I think it's multifaceted. But he carries the majority of the blame.

The Steelers have plenty of hardware. Part of the reason why is they are anything but a knee-jerk organization that fires head coaches for having a down year. They see the big picture, put a premium on coaching continuity, and as a result have arguably been the most successful franchise in the Super Bowl era.

Sometimes in order to win the chip you remove the hump and get someone to lite a fire under the team bc of complacency .  Tampa Bay ..i loved tampa bay but when they let go dungy I was mad the next year they won the SB..Dungy was a great coach but he had done all he could do. Sometimes thats just how it is some coaches can assemble a great time but not coach them to win the big game..Dungy and Phil Jackson. of course dungy did win a SB but the team was already assembled as well.

I'm afraid Ron peaked in 2015

So many people just don't understand what a SB loss and/or win can do. It can easily go down the toilet right after, its happened many times. We held on to Fox too long. Ron should have a short leash especially considering he has bad judgement when it comes to his coordinators. I'll be surprised and glad if Ron stick to defense and let go of control over his offense and hire somebody better than Shula. The next offensive coach should have expertise in Quarterbacking too and if they want to remove Dorsey, then so be it. Dorsey I believe will be good in this league, he can do something else offensive.

If he doesn't show willingness to change, somebody has to make that change

Surprisingly, most of the media hasn't even mentioned Ron being on the hot seat at this juncture  Wouldn't read too much into it but there's definitely coaches who are in much more dire straights.

What does annoy me is all the people that want Ron fired and yet say nothing about who should replace him. If you're going to make that type of statement, at least provide a name. I'll even provide a list:

I can only speak for myself but that list is a stinker.

There's only 1 head coach currently in the NFL who fix everything wrong in Carolina. His record is almost the same every year, making him one of the most "consistent" coaches currently in the league. You want a name? I'll give you one.....

JEFF FISHER!

I don't get into it because I know this franchise. It would be a waste of time. I think a new OC has a higher chance of coming here. If so, I'll take Cooter all day.

There are three potential head coaches I know of who have a prior connection to Dave Gettleman.

Frank Reich - they were together in Buffalo; Reich also has a connection to the Panthers as our first QB

Kyle Shanahan - connected via Shanahan's dad Mike, who was with Gettleman in Denver; arguably the hottest of the hot candidates right now

Anthony Lynn - was a player in Denver when Gettleman worked as a scout; getting a lot of attention for offensive improvement in Buffalo

Its crazy but Rivera's win/loss total almost reflects what Fox did in his first six years here.  Fox was 56-47 (counting playoffs) while Rivera would be almost the same if he wins one more. 56-45-1

We don't make the comparisons for nothing. Thats why most people ready to move on from DC's as our HC

Denver got rid of Fox after he took them to the Super Bowl.  They realized he just couldn't push them far enough.  Rivera is just like Fox, or at least in a LOT of ways.  I worry it's the same here.   Richardson may just hire another guy like that though.

I don't think Rivera is gone, I kind of want it though.   I hope Shula at least is gone.  We need an offensive minded coach to get the most out of Cam.
