Kelvin just completely quit

The Question

Also I hate how Cam tries to force feed him the ball.   Cam wasn't like that last year, he didn't have a choice.   It's like when Cam was forcing passes to Smith that last year or two.

This is the reason I don't know if we necessarily need a true #1 WR. We just need receivers that are quick/speedy and can run precise routes. I do think Cam is using KB as kind of a crutch. Only thing is that crutch has not been very good this year.

so let me get this straight...all of this fussing about Benji "quitting" on the play because he knew he made the tackle and that the dude shouldn't have even kept running? Is this really where we're at right now?

That discussion is ongoing here and elsewhere.

Yeah, I wasn't watching the game so I saw the mob coming after Kelvin before I had a chance to see the actual play. It wasn't nearly as bad as people were/are making it to be.

The whistle.... a player that wants it, plays to it

KB is a cancer to this offense(not in the Terrel Owens sense of destroying the locker room but he makes the team worse). It isn't all his fault, Cam is to blame as well but the fact remains that Cam is a terrible qb when he has KB on the field, he looks his way too much and doesn't make proper reads/progressions. I don't know how you fix it other than trade/cut KB but something has to be done this offseason.

The thing is, I've always viewed KB as a complimentary receiver.

Yes, he is capable of putting up huge numbers, thanks to his size and catch radius. But i don't believe he'll ever be a true number one.

There lies the problem, is the Panthers don't truly have a bona-fide number one receiver.  If we did, then KB would be a true monster.

I think they are still looking for that go to guy other than Greg.  Either Kelvin or Devin will claim that role or they keep looking.  It's looking more like Devin has the leg up on desire anyway.  I think he's a better receiver of the two at this point.

What led to my post was not really just that play but what I had seen from him in the game so far and what I've seen from him since about the Minnesota games which is bone headed penalties, lack of effort blocking, soft route running, not fighting for balls, quitting routes, looking out of shape, etc.

I really like KB and his potential and I believe the jury is still out on him coming back from an ACL, but an ACL has nothing to do with visible lack of work ethic which was on his scouting report. I thought he had put that to rest his rookie season but it seems some of it is coming to light with him and the teams adversity this season. It could be a chemistry thing I don't know, just wanna see him be what he could be.
