Laziness has been on the KB scouting report since his high school days according to Twitter.

I think a benching is healthy at this point.  KB does have a TON of potential (the coach killer!), but he needs a reality check.  He had a very productive Rookie year, lost his second season, came back in better shape, but then this year has been such a cluster of problems.

KB needs some perspective.  He needs to go back and watch Steve Smith's football life.  He needs to re-assess his work ethic, how he approaches a game, how he plays.  Either a benching will wake him up, or he'll continue to be what he is and float around the league for a bit.

I don't disagree with that. I just want to give him the benefit of the doubt. He is lazy and he's fat. He needs to make it a priority this offseason that he works on his routes and lose weight.

...not sure i would consider him fat 6 6 245...olsen is 10lbs heavier and older and gets open most times....his problem is between his freakin ears....definitely needs to find himself this off season and put in some work...

We need to reach higher. We can't settle. Funchess is good, but he isn't a #1. We need to aim for a true star #1 WR.

It would be nice to get a so-called #1, but they don't grow on trees and don't come cheap in free agency.

Honestly, I think that the whole "true #1" thing is overblown. There just aren't that many in the league (I'll say 10 at most, and even some of them are inconsistent). What we need is a playmaker with decent to lights-out speed, who runs exceptional routes and has sure hands.

_________

As for Benjamin and Ginn , I've been suggesting that Rivera should sit their asses down and make them take a backseat for weeks now, but I wouldn't necessarily get rid of KB. Theoretically, it's only his Sophomore year because of a devastating injury. He was never the most polished receiver to begin with, so you have to expect a mixture of good and bad.

Everyone's on the trade block for the right compensation though.

I think it's concentration....the thing that has plagued him since his FSU days.

If you aren't "all in" on every play...it looks like what KB is doing now.  If he isn't the first read, he plays lazy, and is then surprised when the ball is there when he does get his head around.

Goes back to having a vet receiver in the film room with him.  I've always worried about the film room for the WR's....even when Smith was here (there is a joke in there).  We have Proehl, who is a young coach, to go along with Philly, Funch, KB, Bersin, Ginn, etc....  Not a ton of starts/minutes/TD's, etc.

I think it's a great idea, but who gets cut.  The Panthers like their young guys, but we need a vet.  It's just who is going to go from that room?

We are only carrying 5 right now, but we could have found room before the injuries this season.

BTW, I'm not advocating for Boldin next season, just saying that is something that I would have liked to have seen last off season.

I started to type his name too...  A vet would be great.  Maybe next year...

KB has never been a number 1 to me.To me a number 1 is someone who create their own separation and run good routes.  How many times have you seen any of our receivers but a move on a DB and say ..whoa he broke his ankles or Man look at that cut or move.  This team lacks speed on the DBs and receivers ..people say Ginn but has stone hand, then brown who is paper thin and goes down with any contact we need speed and someone with good hands and shiftiness. It would be good to have someone who could get lost in the trees we have.

I agree 100%, however, we wont be drafting or buying a #1 receiver for a while. We'll have to develop one for the time being and Funchess can be a player like Muhammad was for us.
