Gettleman has work to do!

If we look at the team going into 2017, there are some obvious holes to fill.  For the fun of it, I looked at our current roster and removed players that will be free agents next year.

Lets first look at the offense skill positions.

QB: Cam Newton, Derek Anderson, Joe Webb. No real change here

TE: Greg Olsen, Ed Dickson, Chris Manhertz, Scott Simonson.  Again, no change

WR: Kelvin Benjamin, Devin Funchess, Damiere Byrd.  These are the only WRs we have under contract moving into next year. We will need to bring in or resign players just to have enough to fill the roster.  *Philly Brown is likely to return as he is a RFA

RB: Jonathan Stewart, Cameron Artis-Payne, Devon Johnson, Jalen Simmons.  Cutting J-Stew saves about 4.75 mil on the cap with 3.75 mil in dead money.  However, this would leave us painfully short in talent at RB.

FB: Mike Tolbert

Now, lets look at the O-line.

LT: Micheal Oher, Jordan Rigsbee, Jake Rodgers

LG: Andrew Norwell (RFA)

C: Ryan Kalil, Gino Gradkowski, Tyler Larsen

RG: Trai Turner

RT: Daryl Williams, Pearce Slater

If Oher or Kalil retire, we are in for a serious world of hurt here.

The defense looks better, but not by much.  I am going to assume we pick up Lotulelei's 5th year option. We will have to wait and see what happens with KK.

DT: Star Lotulelei, Vernon Butler, Paul Soliai, Eric Crume.

DE: Kony Ealy, Ryan Delaire, Larry Webster.  This is a mess.

LBs: Luke Kuechly, Thomas Davis, Shaq Thompson, Jeremy Cash, David Mayo, Jared Norris.  I feel good about our LBs.

CBs: James Bradberry, Daryl Worley, Travell Dixon, Tyler Patmon.  Every CB on our current roster other than Bradberry and Worley are on 1 year deals except for two players on the PS.

SS: Kurt Coleman, Dean Marlowe

FS: Tre Boston

Special teams will remain relatively consistent.

Gettleman is going to have a make or break off-season.  He has a lot of opportunity to upgrade this roster.  Being out of the playoff hunt means he can get started early on talent evaluation.

*Added Philly Brown and Andrew Norwell, as they are RFAs and likely to be brought back in.

Philly and Norwell as RFAs will both be back next year 100%. Very possible Norwell gets an extension.

Philly will absolutely be tendered, but it wouldn't shock me if they bring in another WR via the draft or FA who beats him out. The guy has 20 catches for 194 yards. It's not like he's a world beater.

Norwell, Turner, Addison, Williams, Love, Bradberry, Star, Short, etc. Now possibly Larsen.

Yeah... lulz

We all know it's Rivera who can't evaluate talent. Just stop.

Stfu and chill out. I didnt say Ron wasn't. The topic wasn't about him.

We have some big issues

Oline is number one.  Our G's are good, but we face issues at the other 3 positions.  Oher and Kalil might or might not be back.

Drafting a T and C have to be on the table

TE  Greg is not getting any younger and the cupboard is bare behind him

RB  Stew is expensive, Tobert is done

WR  Probably ok

QB  Cam in last contract in my opinion

And that is only the offense.
