Cam punished for strip club, not a tie?

Peter Schrager apparently said on The Herd that Ron Rivera told Cam Newton Saturday night that if he didn't wear a tie to the game, he'd be benched for the first series.

Well that's interesting. Why did he look caught off guard? Or I guess the better question is did Ron do an outfit check or something? Lol, I'm really confused.

Maybe Cam didn't actually expect him to do it. I really don't know what to believe at this point. It's a mess.

I agree. I think now there's too many conspiracy theories out lol. I don't know that it makes sense, to me, that he said it Saturday night unless Ron checks every players clothes the night before. What does make sense is if Ron mentioned it in a meeting that "don't forget your ties or you will sit" kinda way. But even that's silly.

I'm pretty sure it's the flight where they are (foolishly) required to wear a tie. Not on game day. The flight was the Saturday before the game. There is plenty evidence of Cam not wearing a tie on game day. Not sure about on the the flights, though.

I haven't read this entire thread, but I'm worried we've hitched our wagon to someone who's not a leader.

I don't know what Cam does day-in and day-out, but I worry he's not taking his job seriously.

He's regressed. Big time.

The problem is, with Cam, he's such a freak of a talent... like we've never seen before. He's been able to coast at times, relying on pure talent. He's your supermodel girlfriend who has halitosis and vaginosis.

We're stuck with him. But we're not stuck with Ron. I hear all the time that Ron is a great guy... but at the end of the day we can fire a coach a lot easier than a 100+ million QB.

Either find an offensive-coach who's PROVEN or trade Cam.

Oh lawd.

LMAO so they can't have fun because the coaching staff jobs are on the line? LOL. These are grown men, with children. They do their jobs, they are allowed to have fun. Whether it's your thing or not is a matter of personal opinion, but it's not in any NFL manual or a team policy that they can't visit a strip club if they want to. Nobody came in after curfew, nobody got arrested, nobody embarrassed themselves, their families and the team. Visiting a strip club is not a big deal. Ron is not their dad and unless stated in the Panthers handbook that they can not, under any circumstances, visit a strip club there is no harm. So please tell me, which rule was broken (if this were true and all)?

Not a written rule but maybe some unwritten ones.
