This is because we have been in cap hell for a while now  because of a lot of dead money from bad contracts under Marty Hurney. Nothing to see here, 2017 is  first real year we actually had Cap space under Ron Rivera and Gettleman

We had money this past offseason....

Barely above the cap requirement, smh. Based on the excess cash that were sitting on this season, we were out of cap hell this past offseason. That's money we could have used to help push us over the edge, and go all in for this season.

People keep mentioning we're building for the future. When do we stop worrying about the future, and focus on the present? Looking at this team now, it might be some years before we even get back to the Super Bowl.

The Patriots only spent 5 million more than us. But I thought spending money was good?

They also possess the GOAT QB and head coach.

There are dozens of anomalies the patriots are responsible for. There is some stat out there saying something like that NFL teams win only 10% of the time when their qb has 50+ passing attempts. The patriots win like 75% of the time in that same scenario. Those numbers aren't completely accurate, but it is something absurd like that.

The rules don't apply to those guys.

But it is possible. Just wanted to point out that you don't need to fit a stereotype to be a successful NFL franchise.
