For years people couldn't wait to get out of the last of Hurney's insane contracts, Stewart's.  Now, with his age and injury history only having grown, the opportunity could be there to replace him with the best talent in 10+ years at the position, for 5 years at least on a rookie deal.  I don't get it.  Positional value, age, injury history, etc. make bringing Stew back BAD business.  Nothing personal Stew, strictly business.

I agree with you, but what I am saying is if you fix the O-line even an average back will put up decent yards and look like a better back than he really is

Now ill admit I don't watch a ton of college football but I have a hard time believing Fournette is any more talented than Gurley or Elliott, the kid may end up being amazing but I think the whole once in a generation thing gets way over used for college prospects.

although it pains me say that we will most likely end up with a top 10 pick, even a top 5 pick... The teams ahead of us are in desperate need for a QB meaning guys like Myles Garrett and Jonathan Allen could be a in play here which would have a huge impact on our team.  No top 10 tackles IMO. and Why draft a RB if there are no Offensive Line improvements in the offseason.  Now if you go out in FA and boost the OL then yes drafting a Fournette or a Dalvin Cook makes sense.  I think with Worley and Bradberry coming into their own, one more offseason of work may have Gettleman thinking yet again lets go Defense in 1st round.  And at this point I see why.  DE or Safety (Jamal Adams).

Yes i want RB or DE in the first. Get OT in FA.

Also cleveland wont reach for a QB because they had RGIII out the whole year pretty much. 49ers will most likely take a QB. Jets will take a QB and lose Fitz and dont have no trust in Geno. Rams wont go QB neither with Goff from last year. Cleveland will probably take a corner to go with Hayden. 49ers will probably go QB, Jets will go QB or CB (Revis will probably retire), Jax will go DE. And rams will go probably WR or CB

Most people have no clue what happened in Chicago yesterday-and good for them.  Let me tell you-zero completions for either team until almost halftime.  6 total passing yards for the 49ers, a franchise low.  Matt Barkley was the winning QB.  These legacy teams are not only desperate beyond words, but literally must draft someone at QB just to put fannies in seats next year me thinks.

2014 had 3 QBs go in the first round.

Bortles at 3

Manziel at 22

Bridgewater at 32

I really don't think it would be a shock if 0 or 1 went in the first 5 picks.  Goff would probably be the highest rated QB again in this draft class.  Also there might be some FA QBS available, such as Romo or Cutler, to fill some of those spots.

The success of Carr and Prescott might also influence some teams not to reach.

With all of that being said I actually hope you are right and I'm wrong.  Maybe some of these QBs will have a really good offseason heading up to the draft and improve their stock.  Just with us at 7 I'm not convinced we will end up with one of the top 4-5 players (Garrett, Peppers, Allen, or Fornette) that most on here are hoping for.

Don't think this will have any effect on QBs going high in the draft. Rebuilding teams will have no interest in a veteran QB like that. And even if they did have interest in a guy like Romo or Cutler they'd know those aren't long term solutions and would probably still draft a guy early if they liked him, to sit behind a guy like Romo. Could see Jets going after Romo and also drafting a QB high if they like one to sit behind him, despite just drafting Hackenberg in the 2nd last draft.

The Jets are extremely terrible and they're losing to the Colts right now. C'mon Jets.

Sucks.  Glass half full is that if the Colts win it strengthens the grip on the 7 spot even if we slip up and "win".

Yeah silver lining. Jets are getting obliterated. Can't stop anything.

Maybe the Jets go D or QB anyway.  Who knows.  5-11 is a nuclear disaster for a Super Bowl or bust team but if I know draft position isn't compromised I can root for the home team on Christmas Eve guilt free.  A win over the Falcons and the 7th pick get a par saving golf clap at this point.

Like I said earlier, I hope I am wrong. What QBs do you feel really have a chance of going in the top 5?

I don't follow college at all except for watching specific prospects I'm interested in or that the team is reportedly interested in and QBs don't fall under either of those categories. So I have no idea about QB prospects this year. I was just commenting on your point about the FAs affecting it, which I don't think it will at all. If no QB goes high, they wouldn't have gone high even if the QB FA class was horrible.

I pull for the Panthers no matter the draft position, but losing doesn't bother me at all at this point. I'm hoping 2 QBs go in the top 6 or so, but I'm not counting on it. If I'm Gettleman I'm looking for OTs who are proven pass blockers (they'll be going early in the second round) and explosive offensive players. The defense can be upgraded via FA with proven players and wily vets.

Aside from better pass blockers (Remmers go to hell) I'd like to pick up a change of pace back who can Cam dump the ball off to when he's in trouble. Fozzy has done well, but we need more explosiveness. Sick of seeing passes to fat Tolbert? Let's dump it off to this guy:

S is still a big need for the Panthers.

You want to play young DBs who by their nature make tons of assignment/call mistakes....then you put quality S behind them.

Boston needs to be replaced ASAP.  He just adds to the problem.

I would rather see us fix our secondary problems in the free agency and focus our first pick on the d-line.  A d-line that can get after the QB consistently will help a struggling secondary.
